Johnson to resign from State Senate

Just got a phone call from a very reliable source that telling me that Eric Johnson (R-Savannah) is resigning from the State Senate to concentrate on his run for Governor.

This move allows Johnson to raise funds during the 2010 legislation session, where as other state elected officials will not.

A special election will likely be held on November 3rd of this year to fill the vacancy in the Senate.

Do you think he was concerned about the cost to the taxpayers for a special election?
Lost my vote on the fact he isn't completing the job he was elected to do...and in essence said "I'm more important and my career is more important than a bunch of taxpayers who elected me to serve them"
I wouldn't vote for him because he isn't a finisher just a climber.

Don,

There are already five special elections for the General Assembly taking place on November 3rd. These will be held in conjunction with municipal races that were already taking place.

It still cost the taxpayer money and I don't need a non finisher in the Gov's office.
What would he do if Gov and suddenly a Senate seat in D C became avaiable ...Would he appoint himself or cut a deal with the Lt Gov and resign then have the Lt. Gov now Gov appoint him?
My point Jason is that he owes it to those who voted for him based on his commitment to them to serve them to finish that task.
I guess I am just sick of the professional politician who is more worried about his/her career and retirment package than the JOB they commited to do.
