Sea ice at 1979 levels

Shhhh, don't tell Al Gore:

Thanks to a rapid rebound in recent months, global sea ice levels now equal those seen 29 years ago, when the year 1979 also drew to a close.

Ice levels had been tracking lower throughout much of 2008, but rapidly recovered in the last quarter. In fact, the rate of increase from September onward is the fastest rate of change on record, either upwards or downwards.

The data is being reported by the University of Illinois's Arctic Climate Research Center, and is derived from satellite observations of the Northern and Southern hemisphere polar regions.

Of course, this can only be attributed to global warming. You can't disrupt the ravings of environmental alarmists who have warned us for years that the end is near and who are now pushing a "cow tax" through the EPA.

I heard recently that the temperature at one of the reporting stations in Antarctica reported a temperature of -129 degrees below zero. Now that's pretty cold. One of the coldest readings in many years.

I think the measurement was taken on a day that ALgore had gone swimming at the beach and you know what happens when you put an object in a bucket of water....it raises the level of water.....
