How many court cases can you name?
Sarah Palin can only name one Supreme Court case?:
The Palin aide, after first noting how "infuriating" it was for CBS to purportedly leak word about the gaffe, revealed that it came in response to a question about Supreme Court decisions.I actually thought this was a joke when I first heard it. Only one, and it was sort of an obvious one. After noting Roe vs. Wade, Palin was apparently unable to discuss any major court cases.
There was no verbal fumbling with this particular question as there was with some others, the aide said, but rather silence.
I'm not saying she needs to be an encyclopedia of the Supreme Court, but I gather that most of you could fire off at least two or three cases. You would expect someone running to be for vice-president, a heartbeat away from the presidency, would have somewhat of an understanding of one of the three branches of government. Then again with the way the Bush Administration has run over the Constitution and Bill of Rights, you'd think we don't have a Supreme Court.

The fact that it isn't Marbury v. Madison is disheartening to begin with.
But seriously who hasn't heard of Brown v. BOE?

Sarah Palin cant even tell Katie Couric what newspapers and magazines she reads, do you really think she can name a court case? I don't know whats worse the fact that someone even thought of her and VP in the same sentence, or that the Republican party stands behind her. The GOP is fast becoming a joke.

I don't know... I'll get back to you about that...

haven't seen the video where she cann allegedly only name one Supreme Court case - BUT the YouTube video linked above DOES NOT show that she cannot name a newspaper - only that she refuses to rise to the bait set out by Katie Couric. Watch the video - its not that she CAN'T name a newspaper, its that SHE WON'T.
Why? Reckon its because whatever she names would be ridiculed?
I will vote Libertarian -- but seriously -- among the three major party VP nominees (YES - the LP is one of them), Sarah Palin is NO WORSE than the second best nominee -- and a case could be made that she is the best of the three.

Green,
I'll take Wayne Root. There is something about a self made man that you know will get the job done. Since he home schooled his daughter, I bet he can name more than one SC case. Also, I bet he's never asked a crippled man to stand up (Biden is such an arrogant ass).

Some would say Hitler made a good case, but that doesn't make it so.

I will see your Hitler and raise you a Pol Pot.
Hitler? REALLY?? Hitler?!
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

JD,
That is probably the dumbest thing I've read in the last month.
I don't care for Palin, but you leftist need to knock off the "Nazi" comparisons. It just makes you look stupid.

Anyone know who thought Sarah Palin was a female version of Wayne Root?
Posted by: Dutch | October 1, 2008 01:49 PM
Leftist? Did Bill O'Reilly not compare Nancy Pelosi to Hitler, i guess its ok for the neo-cons to use it. I only said that his argument didn't turn out good for the world.
Posted by: JD | October 1, 2008 08:35 PM
O'Reilly is a douchebag anyway.
Why even bring up Hitler though? It doesn't do anything but take away from the discussion.
Posted by: Jason | October 1, 2008 08:40 PM
Because its well know Hitlers argument didn't work out good for the world. We have a chance to really change the direction of our country right now and these people are the best choices to lead the way? I am sadly disappointed. I really hope Bob Barr does get elected just so we don't have to put up with the same BS.

I don't disagree with you at all, but my point is that it strikes an emotional response by using a very divisive name.
That's all I'm saying. I apologize for calling you a leftist, but I still stand by my opinion about using Hitler's name as a rhetorical point.

I agree.

What's with all the hoopla about Hitler? Get a life, folks.
Gee, there was the Kelo case on eminent domain, the recent case over the DC gun ban (forgot the plaintiff's name), the Court's failure to strike down McCain-Feingold -- all those in the last decade. For a Governor to not be able to name the Kelo case is a little scary - for that same Governor to be running for VP is downright spooky.
In Sarah's defense, though, no one claimed she is an intellectual; she's apparently just a naieve, doe-eyed McCain worshipper -- exactly what the campaign wanted.
Tonight's debate should be good for at least a few laughs.

Since none of my fellow Libertatians wanted to answer, I'll answer my own question. The person who believes Sarah Palin is the female version of Wayne Root is...Wayne Root (according to an article in the Ventura County Star).
I was having a tough time understanding why my Libertarian friends had so much venom for Palin. She seemed to me to hold more Libertarian views than Obama, Biden and McCain. But the same article that quoted Root explained it all to me. In speaking about the Libertarian Party, it said: "National polls showed the party winning a 6 percent share, but that has eroded by more than half since the entry of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin on the Republican ticket".
Here's the link to the article: http://www.venturacountystar.com/news/2008/sep/22/libertarian-candidate-speaks-out/

Wayne wrote that before anyone, including himself, knew anything about her. Radley Balko thought the same thing about Palin, then he did research on her. She opposes school vouchers, medicinal marijuana, she supports wasteful pork projects and has backed constitutionally damaging legislation from the Bush Administration.
I know libertarians. Sarah Palin is no libertarian.
Posted by: Jason | October 2, 2008 09:33 AM
If he said that without knowing anything about her, he's an idiot.
I never said she was a libertarian and I don't agree with many of her political views. But, I do assert that she is more libertarian that Obama, Biden and McCain, so why beat her up and say next to nothing about the other three.
Posted by: Dutch | October 2, 2008 09:57 AM
For the record, I don't think he's an idiot. And this quote is not some old item I dug up from some archives. It came from September 22...a week and a half ago.

Wayne was talking about an enthusiastic individual, not the same on policy.
If you ever meet Wayne, you'd know what I am talking about.
