Breaking their pledge

Saxby Chambliss and Johnny Isakson have broken their anti-tax pledge, according to Grover Norquist:

Americans for Tax Reform, led by anti-tax crusader Grover Norquist, say that Republicans who have signed on to the Senate “Gang of 10” plan _ which has grown to 20 sponsors _ are violating their no tax increase pledges because the legislation would increase taxes on oil companies.

“On net, this ‘compromise’ is a violation of the Taxpayer Protection Pledge because it increases net income taxes” on oil companies, the group said in a statement released this evening.

He didn't specifically mention them by name, though the article does, but they have signed the pledge and both Senators are members of the "Gang of Ten."

Any tax increase on oil companies would be felt at the pump. As Monroe said yesterday, "BUSINESS DO NOT PAY TAXES. EVER. Consumers pay them. This is no exception."

Shameless and Isakson broke their campaign promises and pledges starting when they were both sworn in.
When folks understand that there is no politician on the national level and with few exceptions the state level that are there but for one reason. Wealth and power they will do or say anything to get there and once there they serve but two things themselves and the special interest that fund their next election campaign.
I challenge anyone to show me one politician in Washington who has not increased his or her wealth while in office. I challenge anyone to show me one politician in Washington who has not benefited the "pockets" of their main campaign contributer.
I challenge anyone to show me one Washington politician who has made the same sacrifice they continually ask us to make.
If you can show me one whose station and financial situation in life is worse than it was when they took office I will discontinue my participation on this blog.
No opinion as that is emotional but hard cold figures those are concrete. And good luck.

Three days later and no one has shown me a single example of a politician going in the red for their public service. I really think somebody would have found at least one,but then again neither have I.
