Individual rights have decreased since the founding father's created them for us. Our liberties are always being attacked from all sides. We the people doesn't mean "we the special interest group." As government has grown into the giant bureaucracy that we have today it takes more and more to feed this monster. With more departments created it takes away from us the citizens who have to feed this machine. We are the glue that holds this nation together but the larger it becomes the thinner the seams that hold it together.
With this growth we have lost so much in our individual freedoms. We have freedom of speech but we are attacked for it. We have freedom of religion but we are still ridiculed by those who don't see eye to eye. We have freedom of the press but it is only free as long as the persons who operate the press are allowed to print what needs printing. We have freedom to have a gun but it is constantly being attacked to take away this right. The list goes on and on. With the people in charge at the Federal level we are not being heard. Our voices are rarely heard at even the State level. When are they going to hear the cries of the people losing their lively hoods: their homes, their jobs, fair food prices, and trying to really do something about the fuel prices. As long as those prices stay where they are our nation is not going to see an improvement if anything we will see a further decline. With this loss we are also seeing a decay in the moral fabric of our lives. Families see each other on the run. We have created a society of hurry that is leaving us behind in the world of humanity. I agree totally with Thomas Jefferson as his words have proven true over these two and a third centuries. We have a nation that the forefathers never knew. And I truly wonder what they would think. The shock might be too much.
