DC subverts Heller ruling
Over at Reason, Jacob Sullum writes about leaders in District of Columbia doing everything they can to get around the Heller decision:
D.C.'s political leaders know they are inviting another Second Amendment lawsuit, but they are determined to defy the Supreme Court and the Constitution for as long as possible.Sullum also points out that the registration requirements are so tedious that they could be seen as denying DC residents the right to carry a weapon. The new law "clarifies that no carry license is required inside the home" to move a gun from one room to another. It also "clarifies" the District's firearm storage requirements, saying a gun may be unlocked and loaded "while it is being used to protect against a reasonably perceived threat of immediate harm to a person" in the home.
Much hinges on what counts as a "reasonably perceived threat." If you're awakened in the middle of the night by a crash, may you carry a loaded gun with you as you investigate? Evidently not. The Washington Post reports that D.C.'s acting attorney general, Peter Nickles, "said residents could neither keep their guns loaded in anticipation of a problem nor search for an intruder on their property." According to Nickles, if you see an armed criminal charging your home, or in the event of "an actual threat by somebody you believe is out to hurt you," you're allowed to get your gun, unlock it, and load it.

Don, I have a few copies and one autographed from the White Album. It shows us that even though we think we have achieved something the one's in power will always subvert our rights to their benefit.

Doctor
That is why we are in deep dodo....Dr. Wells and you are two of my windows of hope that are presently on the Late Great Planet Earth or in our case the Late Great Nation of America.
I predict that our nation and the freedoms that we were founded on will cease to exist within the next 10 years...As Dr. Wells so completely pointed out, our similarity to the Roman Empire and its decay into oblivion is fastly approaching veiled in the cloak of hope and prosperity when we both know what is approaching.
I have said it is too late for America to return to it's greatness and I fear there is nothing on the horizon to change that. There are a few great men and women who still believe in the principles our nation was founded upon but there are fewer and fewer of then each season and those that remain are growing weary as the tide of oppression has almost become palatable and acceptable to those whose very lives are being so manipulated.
We accept and tolerate social, political and economic actions that just 50 years ago would have caused outrage in every segment of our society. Now thanks to the diluting of our Christian values by those who have sought and obtained power by deceit we ,you and I , have had our value system made out to be something evil and oppressive to those who have no values other than self.
I love what the Australian PM has issued to the immigrants of their nation.
"if you don't like the way we do things and it offends you, then you are welcome to leave. If you want to stay here in our country you will be expected to do things our way and speak our language while doing it. If you want to salute your flag go back to your country".Basicaly he just said "you want to live in Australia the you do things the way we do them, and if you don't like it or it offends you then please feel free to exercise your freedom to LEAVE."
Sound like good advise to me and I am not speaking of the Mexican,Asian,Islamic or any other "race" and I think if you are an Atheist you should leave and go where atheist live. I don't even understand why an atheist would want to live in America don't they know this is "one nation under God" well it is suppose to be anyhow.
And before someone jumps and screams "what about my rights" I said what I think, in my opinion, the way I feel about it, what I would like to see. If you ain't a Christian and your values are not Christian then leave as these are the principles and values this country was founded on. The only reason you have any "rights" is because Christian men and women risked their all to establish this nation and some have and are giving all now to defend this nation.
Doc I am sorry I got on this subject....I am going to work out on the heavy bag for awhile so I can once again be safe to go out in public.

Don my friend, you have expressed yourself well. It is your given right to express how you feel. We the people have in a lot of cases forgotten how to express ourselves. The very moral fiber of our nation has been under attack for a long time now.
We are seeing the cracks of the foundation on which we stand. Many have already been consumed in the first cracks and there will be many more to come. This foundation cannot be glossed over with a little mortar and sand. It will take a full substructure to fix the problem. The people at the grassroots level must find themselves and then proceed to stand up and say enough is enough.
We the people are quickly becomely we the few. So many just don't care anymore. There are those of us who are voices in the wilderness who are trying to keep the lights lit. When they go out then hope is gone with it. You know sir my health is declining and I have done so much to be a voice from that wilderness. My voice will continue as long as a breath is drawn and God will let me do so. I feel so passionately about our local area because it is where I grew up. I also love our nation because I know the principles on which it was built. There are a few of our younger generation who care such as my son but there is always that thought in the back of the mind do they really know what is at stake. All we can do is try and make a difference and bring forth ideas based on sound judgement from those who built our nation. People need to learn from their mistakes and build upon them while they still have the chance. It is not only our local area but our nation and the way of life we have that is at stake. Bring forth sound government by and for the people and we can see a new beginning if they just give it a chance. May they find a place in their lives for God and the Bible and that will be a start. Thank you for being a good friend Don and thank you Prof. Wells for bringing forth a new learned voice to our area.
