Chambliss leads Martin and Jones

Rasmussen has a new poll in the Georgia Senate race between Saxby Chambliss and his two potential Democratic opponents. If I were a Democrat, I would really look closely at these numbers:

The U.S. Senate race in Georgia has remained relatively steady this month. Senator Saxby Chambliss leads Democratic challengers Vernon Jones 59% to 29% and Jim Martin 51% to 40% in the Peach State.
[...]
Against Jones, Chambliss is supported by 96% of Republicans in Georgia and 19% of Democrats. When put against Martin, he earns support from 90% of Republicans and just 9% of Democrats. Chambliss tops Jones 66% to 18% among unaffiliated voters. Against Martin, he leads 56% to 33%. While the incumbent leads Jones by double-digits among both men and women, he trails Martin 45% to 43% among women. He leads Martin 62% to 32% among men.
I really wish that there was someone who could beat Chambliss. Having him in office is no worse than having a Democrat. The guy has been a let down, his support for the pork-laden farm bill and his recent caving on Medicare cuts. He really has put his big government-leanings on display.

I guess it wouldn't surprise you if I said I was one of the guys that got Saxby to change his vote on the Medicare cuts...:-)

I'll bet you his daughter and son-in-law would not agree with you especially on the farm bill of which they reportedly receive some 60k plus a year from.
As for being no worse than having a Democrat in office I must disagree. At least the Democrats will tell you that they are for the redistribution of wealth thru the manipulation of the tax dollar they steal from you and me. The Republicans will swear that is not what they will do then just can't resist the PAC money from big business...stop and think have you ever met a poor politician from Washington?

Guys, Saxby is a Democrat. When I was a member of the Republican Party of Montgomery County in Southeast Georgia, he would always come to town and contact the Democrats first. Very rarely did he want to deal with us on the Republican Committee. He wanted to hear the positions of those in the county who had the money to give to his campaign. Although this resulted in an ugly incident one day between him and the former chairman of the county party in a public shopping area, I still have to say the verbal dressing down he took that day was well-deserved. His votes and positions in the Senate pretty much reflect that Saxby is a big spender. However, Martin and Jones would be too. So in a way, I guess Jason has a point about him being really no worse than a Democrat. That is why voters in Georgia really need to pay attention to this race and look at all of the candidates. Once they do that, they will realize that Allen Buckley is the only one in the race brave enought to fix the problem.

Professor Wells:

Democrats have enough trouble in Georgia without you trying to stain us with Shameless Saxby. You can keep him in the GOP.

Now if we can only be smart enough to nominate Jim Martin the 2008 election will be a good one for Georgia's Democrats.

Well, I agree with you on the Shameless Saxby part, Trev. But the truth of the matter cannot be escaped; Saxby is a big spender that supported a lot of things Democrats supported for years. I would also like to point out that I never said I was a Republican now. My post is pretty clear that I cannot keep him in the GOP when I do not belong to the GOP myself.

As for Jim Martin, he is a truly nice guy, but I think he is going to lose his third statewide race in a row. Saxby's warchest is huge and he is polling strong. I have a good friend who is "gung ho" for Chambliss and you would not believe the organization Saxby has on the ground from what my friend tells me. Chambliss has the farm vote pretty much wrapped up. But then again, with that kind of money, who wouldn't?

In all honesty Georgia non-voters are getting just what we deserve....I have and will always say that people will treat you however you allow them to treat you. It is shameful that the very ones who are most harmed by Saxby and the others that are sucking the life's blood out of America are the very one's who will not go to the trouble and inconvince to educate themselves to the candidates positions and record then go VOTE.
I am as serious as I can be when I te
