Barr at 6% in North Carolina

Bob Barr is polling at 6% in North Carolina:

Barr receives 6% of the vote in possible match ups with both Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton as the Democratic nominee. Obama trails John McCain 43-40, while Clinton trails him 39-34.

Barr’s strength is with independent voters, with whom he pulls 9-12%. PPP’s previous North Carolina survey had found voters describing themselves as independents strongly inclined toward McCain.

Mr. Barr will probably make an even better showing not only in North Carolina but other states as the campaign
proceeds. Many people are
disillusioned with Obama and Clinton and are not sure of McCain. I hope this will be the best showing of the Libertarian Party in this election cycle.

I think it is quite ironic that North Carolina was the state that pretty much sealed the nomination for Obama when he won big there, and from the looks of things, he won't win that state in the general election. Polls consistently show McCain ahead there. I do hope Congressman Barr picks up steam there, and I am sure he will.
