Playing on Ignorance
This concept is very popular among people who cannot stand on real issues and have nothing to offer. Too often we hear rumors and sometimes well intentioned folks react out of fear they cause.
The latest rumor that floated around the Courthouse yesterday is, "If Jim Cox is elected, he is going to fire all the Bailiff's." This came from a Bailiff this morning. But it is patently false!
It is normal that politicians will turn against "outsider" candidates. Anyone who is not chosen and anointed must suffer the wrath of the Establishment. In the fear of losing votes, these weak and worthless people should never have been elected to serve the citizens. They are all too busy serving themselves.
And the ones standing as having the power and influence to make or break a political career -- these folks are the real cancer in society. It is their own ego and self-importance they serve. As a student of history it is not surprising that the concept of ostracizing such scabs from society was once a common practice.
When the weakness of their own positions become apparent, and there is nothing of substance to offer, they succumb to the same fears they try to inflict. They cannot accept a candidate they cannot intimidate or control. They are so concerned that a good candidate may actually get elected, the smear tactics and lies become the topics du jour.

You are right Larry. This is politics in Henry County at it's best. The candidates all have people out there to subvert or change the subject away from the real problem facing us. And that is the greed, prestige, ego, and the one up on one another.
This is a disease worse than cancer. There are groups out here whose sole purpose is to promote a candidate who will follow their views. These same groups are working to unseat anyone who does not do their will. This was the tactics of the Nazi Party of the 1920's to gain power in Germany. Someone in these groups has studied the ways to make propaganda work on a lurid scale. Politics in Henry County have always been an ugly business and it has not changed. It is we the taxpayers who are in trouble in all this. We are the one's who take a back seat to the proposed agenda's. Maybe the voters
will see that there is a problem in our midst and it
is ugly.

I like a good conspiracy theory as much as anyone, but you guys need to get a little more specific with this one. Who are these people or groups that make up this cancer on the political process?

It is not a conspiracy theory. Take a look at the website about A.P.A.C. and don't forget the old families.

Who are these people or groups that make up this cancer on the political process?
Any person or group that posseses the intent to subvert the principles of open and free political process.
In business it is the Microsoft Principle: If you cannot beat the competition, buy them.
In politics the sad truth is that a willingness to compromise often leads to seeking influence or even profit from one's position.
Finding a person who is electable and willing to be influenced is not difficult.
Take campaign finance reform. Limiting the soft money can limit the influence that money buys. But the real scandal resides in the less obvious:
These less tangible payoffs are better to some folks than money in the bank.Posted by: Larry Stanley | May 21, 2008 06:28 PM
You are still being very ambiguous about who these people are.
Are these people the ones responsible for the vicious rumor that Cox is going to fire all the bailiffs or is it possible that it's simply speculation by a low-level courthouse employee?

Dutch, I have grown to appreciate your intelligence. And I believe you are too smart to think such a scare tactic was rand
