Memorial Day Open Thread
I am home. I had a slight detour to pick up Reagan. I have way too much stuff to get unpacked.
I am glad to see that Fox News has finally picked up the news of Barr's nomination. The gentleman standing behind Jeri Barr is Libertarian Party of Georgia Chairman Daniel Adams. He took off the cowboy hat after his wife saw him on tv and called him to tell him how stupid he looked. Haha.
Anyway, I wanted to take a moment to tell you to remember what this day is for. Please remember those who have fallen in service to their country, whether you agree with the policy that put them there or not.
Have a good Memorial Day.

Today is not a happy day for the Henderson household but it is a proud day in that we know that our son is serving our country in the most dangerous place on earth not by conscription but by choice. This is the second deployment for Captain Henderson and his command. He is not only a good soldier but has been and is a good son and brother and husband.
Are we glad he is in Iraq no Are we proud that he is doing what HE feels is not only his duty but his honor to defend our country you bet we are.
His brothers and his wife know that he is doing not what he has to do but is doing what he feels he must do and support him 100%.
There is not one day passed that we do not miss him nor fear for him . That is the reason I am so very adamant about the honor I am committed to see that he is afforded due his sacrifice and service.
Please pray for his safety and the safety of the troops under his command as they are committed to victory.
Thank you Jason for reminding all what this day is in honor of.

Today is the day we pay tribute to those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. And we honor those who are serving our nation in far off places where danger is around every corner. Our ancestors gave their lives to bring forth our nation so we could have our freedom. Freedom doesn't come without a price. In my family we have had so many who gave their lives for us. We know the anguish of having a loved one so far away in harms way. Please all of you stop today to think about these who line the walkways of so many a cemetery. Whether it is at Arlington National Cemetery,
Andersonville National Cemetery, The Bluffs above the beaches of Normandy, the warm quiet sands of Iwo Jima, the deserts of North Africa, the beaches of Italy, the Korean Peninsula,
or the jungles of Viet Nam, and now the lonely sands of the Middle East. Many never returned or were ever found. Families lived in sadness wondering where their loved one fell. Many had the chance to say goodbye and have honors bestowed that were beyond well deserved. Our freedom is worth the ultimate sacrifice and it takes a rare breed to fill the shoes to go and make sure that our way of life will endure. They know what truth, honor, and integrity are and they know that it comes with a price. Don't think they do not have fear they are human. But it is this fear that keeps them alive. I love our nation and all those who have paid that price. I love those who today stand in some distant land or right here on a post to make sure I can sleep tonight without worry. I want to thank all the mother's and father's who have had there children go to a far off place and pay that price. They deserve our utmost respect. I want to thank the mother's and father's who have children today who are there protecting us from harm because you instilled in them the meaning of duty, honor, country. May God bless you all and keep our troops safe for another day so they may one day come home to those who love them. May God bless those who have lost your loved ones who will not be here in body but I'm sure their sacrifice will encourage another to pick up the lance and carry it forward.
Again thank you for your sacrifice.
