Manning's take on our rights
State Rep. Judy Manning, resident nanny-stater of the Georgia General Assembly, provides with another fun quote from an elected official:
State Representative Judy Manning said she was shocked to receive death threats over the bill to ban the candy. "Some people think their rights are their rights," she said.Nevermind the fact that this is over the regulation of marijuana flavored candy. But isn't the comment, "Some people think their rights are their rights" indicative of how our elected officials view our liberties. According to Judy Manning, our rights are not inherently given to us through nature, but they are rights granted to us by government.
How dare we question them.

"Their right are their rights" is exactly what has brought us to this point in our history.
The only problem is that unlike the past revolutions the repressed were usually victorious because of will alone but the repressed are now armed to the teeth and are really at a point of "us against them/it" meaning the citizens against the government and to a certain degree "what have we got to loose".
It is these kinds of attitudes by those in power that is going to trigger a revolt unlike any in history.
It is a dangerous society that fears there is no hope and has no trust in the very institutions that were created to protect it.

Don,
You hit the point sir about our rights. The kind of society we live in today is very similar to the kind of society that existed in Germany in the 1920's. This brought rise to Adolf Hitler
and his Nazi Party who came forth as the saviors of the then repressed or disillusioned public. The people were looking for someone to help them and he told them the right things to gain ultimate power over them. After they learned who he really was it was too late. It would be very easy today because people are looking for someone to lead our nation back to prosperity. Evil is lurking
around the corner in our society and people need to be aware of the danger that faces us. Our elected officials in any form are not looking to preserve our rights but they are there to promote their form of rights which submits us to them. Our founding fathers did not intend for this to happen. They were a good people trying to find a better way for us all. It is the greed in those who have followed who have made such dangerous changes to what is our inherent right.
I hope people wake up and see what is really happening to their world around them. But I often wonder is it too late.
