Is the FairTax movement a cult?

Chris Farris has slammed the FairTax:

The problem is that the FairTax promoters and supporters jumped onto the Mike “I’m happy to raise taxes in anyway you want” Huckabee bandwagon. How is it that people who want to lower taxes and improve government would vote for someone who increased the tax burden of his state by 50%?

I began to realize that the FairTax promoters would use any means available to promote their idea and the FairTax supporters would buy it. The FairTax movement stopped being for better public policy and became a cult.

Chris also goes through what he thinks would happen if leaders in Washington ever took the FairTax seriously and tried to push it through Congress. He believes, and I think he is right, that it would become mangled and we'd wind up with some kind of two-tier system between an income tax and national sales tax.

You don't have to think Chris is right he is right. If there were ever to be a plan that would simplify the tax collection method in America introduced their would be a revolt not among the taxpayer but among those who feed at the well of public funds. These people who live and work in the city halls, county seats, state capitols and Washington would never allow the control of our tax dollar to be limited and a Fair Tax or Flat Tax would limit the power to control thru taxation and that is not acceptable to those who live off the extorted funds of our labor.
You know thru the knowledge that you have exhibited on this site that the government is not about service it is about control and power and the only way that is possible here in America is for the government to burden the citizens to the extent we do not have the resources to oppose them. Why are election campaigns so very expensive? Spending millions for a job that pays 400 thousand. It isn't so one can serve all that contribute it is so the large contributer can benefit by the conduct of the office holder.
There is only one fair tax and that is a percentage tax. That is a tax on ones productivity where you are taxed on what you produce and not penalized for exceptional production as the present system does.
And the myth that corporations pay tax is another lie that government has been successful in selling the public. Corporations do not pay tax people pay tax.
I guess the best way to fix the tax code in America is to close Mcdonough,Atlanta and Washington fire all the politicians and have a hugh garage sale of the assets the government now has under its control then start over. No lawyers, accountants,or former politicians need apply. Oh in order to be on the approval list to have a position in the new government you must have had previous experience at a real job not funded by the taxpayer.
What a country

Here Here Farris.

Don, nice Charles Barkley Quote.

Don,
Excellent wording of the
fair tax issue. You are correct to that a percentage tax would be a better system. It's the taxes we don't see that are hurting the taxpayers. And you are also right that the politicians in control love the money at their control. It is like watching a bunch of slum lord kings or the two talking flim flam man when watching our leaders in Washington. These people would not allow for a system that would take away their cake. Our elected officials in Washington forgot who put them there as soon as they landed at the airport. People and I mean good hard working folks
put them there and they need not forget it. There is also that feeling in all aspects of government. The pet projects would never get done if they lost there never ending source of money and that is us. It is hard to imagine how much money each day is spent in America and how much tax is collected from those sales and from those who worked to make those sales. It is unfathomable to think they would ever want to "really"
help us the nameless rabble to them who send in those cash dollars. We are only numbers to them without a face or sense of humanity.
We the taxed to death public
know the truth and so do they. We live in a society of haves and havenots. And there are more havenots than the haves.

I fear that the day is rapidly approaching us that the have-nots are going to rise up and when that happens anarchy will be the law of the land. What disturbs me is that we have a nation of citizens that do not believe that this could happen in America. I'll bet there are more people on the streets that know more about American Idol than they do about the candidates that are running for office in Henry County.
We are headed for some really hard times in this nation and not just economic because during the "great depression" we at least had common unity and morality in the nation now with those unifying traits gone it will be Katy bar the door and I mean that in a literal sense.
History has recorded that no society has survived a taxation rate of 50% of the productive segment of the population and with all the hidden tax, excise tax, user tax, estate tax, property tax,ad volurm tax, transfer tax and I could go on and on we are at that point in our nation now.
We the people find ourselves in much the same state as the Romans did when Rome burned.

Don,
You are correct sir. I feel that our nation is on the eve of one of it's greatest challenges and that is one of survival. Many people do not see this because they are wrapped up in their everyday lives and haven't noticed many of the subtle changes that have occurred around them. And it is true that right here in Henry County they do not find it important enough to find out who the people are who want to run our county with our money. Mistakes are always made in government but one is supposed to learn from those mistakes. But there are key lessons that haven't been learned in this process. One of these lessons is that the folks who want these prestigious
positions need to listen to those who put them there and that is the voters. Many of these people would never hold public office themselves but they know far more about the inner workings of government and the thoughts of the people than those who want the job.
They don't need to look down their nose at a person who doesn't look like much because he might fool you.
But it is money that leads most people to want to run for public office and not just the salary but the other bowls of gravy that are bestowed upon them from the very people they need to be staying away from. There has always been a silent code here in our county about things and that is "don't ask and I won't tell." These days must come to an end if our county is to proceed with it's properity. But with the down turn in the economy and the lack of morality in the land we will go the way of the Roman Empire if everything continues on it's course. Again we are on the eve of
something big here and it is the choice of life or death of our nation. We must stand up and say enough is enough if there is going to be a chance for our nations survival. It is we the people in a new time and a different place in history but it is the same the fight for our homes and what our forefathers left for us our
destiny. But the cards are stacked against us this time
in a way that it will be an uphill fight all the way. We
have allowed those in power to lose their perspective on
why they are there and that is for the best interest of our rights and not for their pocket books.

Don,
Take a look at the new format for the Henry County BOC website. It looks nice. They took the advertisement off the main page for the Nash Farm. It is now listed under the parks and rec dept and when you click onto the site you will find that it still shows the same old website and it is tooting the whistle of Ms.Mathis in the process. Deception and political maneuverings are at hand in all this. I believe that the word is called being snookered. People have worked very hard to bring forth the truth about what happened out there now it is the status quo here in good ole Henry County where nothing is as it seems. I had a feeling that the other commissioners could not say no to her on everything. It is truly amazing to me that this activity is still happening and is so blatant. But I shouldn't be surprised it is Henry County as it has always been and it isn't going to change without some truly serious people trying to make a real difference before any real change will arrive here. It is we the taxpaying citizens who have lost so much in this adventure and appears they will still not see any light at the end of the tunnel. Well I am a tired researcher who knows the truth. I will take my leave
and see what will come of all this. I will contact Mr.Hawke with the National Park Service whom I have had
talks with in the past and let him know what is transpiring here with this situation. I will also ask the Georgia Historical Society if they will pursue
this matter further. Taxes and politics are the best of friends and the people who pay the taxes are again being left on the side of the road by those who would do anything to get what they want. It is truly sad.
