Handel on Mobley
I just received this from Charles Mobley's campaign:
Today Charles Mobley received encouraging words from Karen Handel. Karen Handel is currently Georgia's First Republican Secretary of State. That's pretty strong.
"During my campaign for Secretary of State, I had the opportunity to get to know Charles Mobley. I worked closely with him and have tremendous respect and admiration for the job Charles has done for the Henry County Republican Party, " stated Karen Handel."Charles is a tireless worker for our values and beliefs. Under his leadership and guidance, the party has thrived," commented Mrs. Handel. "He is a friend of the Republican Party and a true friend of mine."
"I am indeed humbled by Karen's kind words of support," said Charles. "Karen is doing a tremendous job of making the Secretary of State's office run in an efficient consumer friendly manner. She is a true conservative that works everyday to make Georgia a better place to live and work."

It's strong that Charles knows somebody? How many people got this email that didn't sign up for Charles' list?

OK, Harry. Charles could have gotten the Update email list. He declined it.
Is there a tacit accusation that Charles seriptitiously gained addresses? What is yor point?
Charles has been gearing up for this campaign for over two years. Maybe the state Republican Party sent the email. Maybe Handel sent it out. What's the problem?
Checkout the AJC, Friday May 23, Metro Section, page E-11. Georgia's attorney general was asked about a candidate's use of 3,087 email addresses acquired from the Cobb County police department. Baker's office stated, "... the list is clearly subjected to state Open Records law, regardless of intended use."
Regardless of assumptions or high-minded moralistic judgements, email addresses are not sacrosanct.

Back to the point: Charles proved his worth as head of the Henry Republican Party, and as a friend. The current secretary of state provided high praise, not simply a cookie-cutter press release type of endorsement.
Just think about how such personal relationships can grease the wheels of political processes.
Good for Charles --- good for Henry County.

I agree. Karen likely has higher political aspirations in the state. I seriously doubt she would causally step into the middle of a local race unless she really admires the candidate. As for email lists, hats off to Mobley if he was able to add potential voters to his email list. I don't see the big deal either.

Harry Johnson I to was on that list. Guess what it was very easy to get off. I followed the directions at the bottom of the email. Sounds to me like this may go a little deeper than who got an email. Are you mad your candidate has not gotten a statement of support like Charles? Be it BJ, Fred, or the others I am sure they would have welcomed the support

I rec'd this email on my phone yesterday around 7pm. I did not sign up for his list. The only local list I'm on is the HC BOC newsletter.

Much ado about nothing. A phone message has no conncetion to an email list.
How about the real issue -- Mobley got a strong, meaningful endorsement from the secretary of state.
Why would anyone sidetrack that fact?
Posted by: Larry Stanley | May 29, 2008 04:53 PM
They side track the issue to get the mind off the real problem and that is the unethical actions of a sitting commissioner. They come forward as an ant hunting honey. Trying to cover the problem and make it go away.

Re: Much ado about nothing. A phone message has no connection to an email list.
Hmmm...someone is getting defensive, maybe this is the same email list that LS requested a few months back?
It has every connection, it was an email sent to my blackberry phone.

Speaking of unethical actions of sitting commissioner, will the BOC approve the budget they they they are with the new Life Styles Management department tomorrow morning or will there be more "Smoke and Mirrors"
Posted by: BR | May 30, 2008 02:47 PM
I would hope that the BOC would do the right thing in this called meeting. We will know tomorrow if there will be more smoke and mirrors.
And speaking of another situation that keeps coming around is the issue of the email list. Can you prove that Mr. Stanley was involved in giving said list to Mr. Mobley and can you prove that you received said message on your blackberry phone. Anyone can say anything to take away from the real issue.

Doctor,
I received the first emailing, but not the second, so I know of a second way to be removed from the email list. Here are the steps:
1. Reply to the email asking how they got your address.
2. When the campaign replies that they have been collecting for months at their website, with door-to-door canvasers, and at fundraising events, reply to them again, and tell them that none of those are the case.
3. Ask them if they got them through LS, or did their own FOIA request.
4. BINGO you are off of the list and they do not contact you again.
I do not care anymore how the campaign got my email address. The fact that they lied about how they got it, then when caught in the lie, refused to answer, is enough to convince me that this is the type of slick politician that I will never vote for.
It is time that cmob post the real answer on this forum.

Since when does anybody have to prove anything to post here? It's got to be close to election time for all this nonsense. All kinds of debatable bs...email lists, where people are putting signs, people campaigning in uniform, candidates intimidating family members of opponents. Does anyone talk about qualifications of candidates or issues any more?
Posted by: Dutch | May 30, 2008 06:26 PM
I feel that Mr. Mobley should come on and say something about this issue.
And the issues have been discussed the question is has anyone listened. I am sure that the candidates are free to come on and post about their platforms
here. It would really be nice to see them discuss the issues and the problems that face us. They don't need to send their public relations folks to speak for them. I would feel better to hear from them and hear what they have to say for themselves. It would be refreshing.

Doc,
I am sure if you contact Charles, fred, BJ or any of the rest the would be happy to talk. As far as Mobley, BJ's or anyone else posting on here what good would it do they have already been found at fault in cyberspace. And besides Joe already knows, he said Charles stole through the FOI Act. So it must be true.

I have been posting on and off on this site for 3-4 years. cmob has been posting longer than that. Welcome aboard, I am glad to be able to read your comments.
That having been said, before all of this email broohaha, I planned to vote for cmob. I know that he knows the truth, all I ask is that he express it here. Is silence damning?

email broohaha. His silence is damning? I must admit I am leaning his way, but seems to me the question has been answered by larry stanely. I do think it is funny how everyone holds these candidates at gun point on blog. This will be my last blog entry for the night. It is a friday and I am going to go try and talk to people in real life now. May ever try to talk to a girl or two. Candidates all answer to the bloggers!

Candidates answer to the bloggers. Only through their minion who come forth to attack. I wonder if your
candidacy for the head of the SCV counts in this political arena. Let us know your agenda for leadership in their group.
