GPPF quotes The Law
From GPPF's Friday Facts:
- Then: “The war against illegal plunder has been fought since the beginning of the world. But how is... legal plunder to be identified? Quite simply. See if the law takes from some persons what belongs to them, and gives it to other persons to whom it does not belong. See if the law benefits one citizen at the expense of another by doing what the citizen himself cannot do without committing a crime. Then abolish this law without delay... If such a law is not abolished immediately it will spread, multiply and develop into a system.” – Frederic BastiatI get the GPPF newsletter every week. It is full of useful facts and information. Sign up if you aren't already getting it.- Now: “The truth is, in order to get things like universal health care and a revamped education system, then someone is going to have to give up a piece of their pie so that someone else can have more.” – Michelle Obama
By the way, the quote from Frederic Bastiat is from The Law. Read it. You can buy it here or read it for free here.

I'll bet that there is not one elected official in any publicly supported office that would acknowledge that this quote from Frederic Bastiat should be required reading by the student bodies of any publicly supported school in America or that you could broadcast as a documentary on any publicly supported television system.
Wouldn't you love to hear one of our Senators or Representatives on the state or federal level read this quote during a televised session of their respective congress.
I would really like to form a group that could effectively lobby the Henry County Board of Education to require a mandatory class that each student had to have before being awarded a diploma that would use "The Law" as its text book.
When I was a student we were required to take a course that was called "Americanism Vs Communism" I guess that was the beginning of my political awareness and one of the reasons I can now recognize that we are in trouble in America today and that the majority of our problems stem from a corrupt government.
I believe I can effectively demonstrate that 90% of our social and economic problems can be attributed to the high taxation and social engineering that the governments both local, state and federal have tried and I might add effectively forced upon us by the power of deceit and intimidation.
We are taxed at such a rate that a one income household is no longer possible and when you add to income tax all the other taxes we are forced to pay is it any wonder that America is imploding?
FICA,sales tax, excise tax, property tax, user tax, fuel tax,ad valorum tax, state income tax, city income tax in some areas, federal income tax, transfer tax,car tag tax, and one of my favorite taxes gas guzzler tax ,what a country ,lets penalize those who are successful
because that will be acceptable to he "have nots" as it looks like a slap in the face to those who have because they worked hard.
And can you believe that Atlanta and Washington actually try to pass "Sin tax" I don't think that is all bad due the health problems and traffic deaths that the tobacco and alcohol cause us,but for Washington or Atlanta to address issues such as smoking and drinking I find a little bit hypocritical at least they didn't try to tax immorality because that would probably come back to haunt a few of them given what happened in New York.
I believe that if we as citizens do not rise up and demand that our officials do what is best for us as a nation we will not recover to the greatness we once were.
Our leaders are arrogant to the point that the rest of the world is saying , and rightly so "who do you think you are telling us what kind of government we should have and who should lead it"
We can't even get it right here on our own soil and that is not unnoticed by the rest of the world. Is it any wonder we are hated and despised by most foreign governments ? We are in shambles economically, morally, academically, and spiritually yet we allow what little reserve we have to be squandered by the elitist
who try and convince us that they are just like you and me.
I don't know about you but I just have a hard time connecting with folks that make multi-millions of dollars a year, have pensions that increase each year at my expense, are not bound by the same laws as I am,or their life styles are not as impacted by the laws they pass as you and I are.
I would that we could require all government bodies to abide by "The Law" but given those in power and those that are presently seeking power will not happen.
In closing can anyone tell me what is going on with the "credit card abuse" scandal that was briefly reported on by the OBM ? It seems to have disappeared from the radar.
