UPDATE: Barr on Hannity
Did anyone else catch Bob Barr on the radio with Sean Hannity? Hannity discussed the rumor that has been the rounds about Barr seeking the Libertarian Party nomination for President.
Hannity asked Barr directly if he was planning to run. Barr said he was "seriously considering" it and would make a decision soon. The longer the interview got, the less friendly Hannity was (I know...big surprise there). Hannity implied that if Barr cost McCain the election that everything that happened after it would be on Bob Barr.
If you were listening in then you know that Barr sounded like a candidate. I thought he came off really well.
I'm trying to find audio or transcript of the interview. I'll have it posted as soon as possible.
[UPDATE] This is from Dave Weigel over at Reason:
When former Rep. Bob Barr arrives in Kansas City on Saturday for the Heartland Libertarian Conference, organizers expect him to launch an exploratory committee for the Libertarian Party presidential nomination. Barr is meeting with his political team on Friday to firm up plans. Right now, he's expected to fly into the city at about noon Saturday and address the conference in the early afternoon.[UPDATE - 9:53pm] Here is an excellent run down of what happened on Hannity's show from Robert Stacy McCain. The Barr launch is getting to be an open secret among conference-goers. Advocacy Ink, the firm that handles Barr's public relations, is advertising the speech to local and national reporters. Mike Ferguson, the de jure organizer of the conference, is scrambling to deal with a crush of new media requests.
"It doesn't take much to put two and two together," said Ferguson. "You don't do this unless you're making the announcement."

And also.... Let's hope if he does run, he communicates much better than Ron Paul did.

I heard him on the Hannity show. Hannity may say that he is a limited government Reagan Republican, but his reaction to Barr shows exactly what is wrong with the Republican Party today.

Hannity is such a f*cking idiot. He's still under the impression that GWB is a "small-government Reagan Conservative."
Hannity's brand of conservatism is the same brand that has given the idea of limited government an eight year Cleveland Steamer.
The day Bob Barr announces for President is the day of Reckoning for the GOP. The GOPers will know that they cannot possibly win the Presidency if Barr is in the race. I can't wait for the whining to start. I can't wait.
It'll just be another chapter in the long, sad history book of GOP hypocrisy. Remember the crybaby pictures that circulated when Al Gore lost? History will repeat itself in 2008.

Barr entering the race really doesn't matter at this point, it just means that the Democrat running in the GOP won't get elected.
