question:
Would a voucher system encourage private school startups within the county?
$4,500 X (say)100 students= $450,000/yr. gross.
with $10,000/mo. allocated to the building facility= $120,000/yr for rent or mortgage.
leaving a remainder of $330,000 annual for admin, teachers, and other overhead.
with a barebones curriculum of math/sci, english/lit and history/econ, it seems doable.
Unleash the market.

Why not have the residents of Senator Eric Johnson's district help the residents of Henry county subsidize the education of non-resident students that will attend our schools. According to the HCBoE it cost approximately 6,700.00 per year per student and with a 4,500.00 voucher from the state that will be a short fall of 2,200.00 dollars the residents of Henry County will have to absorb.
Or better yet let Clayton County send a check for 6,700.00 for each student they send to the Henry County school system. I could be attached to the students enrollment papers so the taxpayers of Henry County know their tax dollar educated Henry County residents not Clayton County residents.
Just a thought

Don,
They bill doesn't require that any school board honor the voucher.
You are overreacting.

Jason,
I realize that the bill doesn't REQUIRE the county to accept the voucher but, what do you think the HCBoE will do? I would almost wager that those who are "connected" or knows somebody involved in the school system here in Henry county will be accepted as students. We already have many cases of non-resident students in the school system so I don't feel that I am overreacting to a problem that will only get worse.

This has nothing to with the voucher then.

Of course it has to do with the voucher. Does overcrowding and cost decrease with volume?
