Linder to face a Democrat in November
I'm sure John Linder will dispense of his primary challenger with relative ease, but he will face opposition in the general election:
Democrat Doug Heckman is using a 2 p.m. conference call with reporters today, to announce his candidacy for the Seventh District congressional seat now held by John Linder, the Republican incumbent. In reading through his platform, Heckman criticizes the budget, says "abolish earmarks" and supports a balanced budget amendment. He also attacks the Fair Tax proposal.Heckman, who describes himself as a conservative, is a graduate of West Point, and recently served as a senior advisor to the Iraqi army. So he fits the pro-military, Jim Marshall-style profile that Democrats have attempted to develop among their candidates.

I just read through the "on the issues" portion of his website. He seems more like a "Chuck Hagel" Republican than a "Jim Marshall" Democrat. Although the lines between Dems and Repubs are blurred at best.
I wish him the best of luck. I hope he at least gives John Linder, who is by far the laziest person in Congress, a reason to get off his ass and work.

I noticed that his time line of Iraq events ends a year ago. It seems that if he is so proud of his Army service, he would be happy with Army (military) successes.

A year ago? 2007? Funny. I thought the mission in Iraq was accomplished on May 1, 2003. Maybe I heard wrong.
I hear that Saxby is good at trashing our veterans, John, you should team up with him and Linder to make some great campaign commercials.

Senator, you're a hack. Did you even read the man's website?
I have no idea who Doug Heckman is or whether you would be a good congressman, but he does acknowledge the relative success we've had over the past year when he says:
Yet, Heckman says things don't seem to be going as well as we could hope:
Now, Heckman may be wrong in pointing this out, but he at least tries to argue in good faith that our policy in Iraq isn't working as well as we'd hoped.
Senator, why can't you make an intellectually honest argument against former military members who don't see Iraq as you do, instead of attacking their honor?

As per usual, John Douglas serves his purpose as nothing more than a hit and run man.
