And Reagan Laughs

Navy scores direct hit on Satellite. Good for us.

Somewhere, Reagan is laughing at "Star Wars" skeptics.

Good for us? On the radio this morning the announcer said that the price tag for the operation was between $40 to $60 million. Just wonderful.

I meant "good for us that we hit the thing on the first try." Yay us! As for the money, I am so immune to federal spending right now that I no longer flinch when I hear about mind bending price tags like the one you mentioned. $60 million? That's nothing in the vast wasteland of federal spending. It angers me on some level, but I have to block it out to maintain my inner zen. Meditation works fine for this. :)

Don't get me wrong, I want to limit government spending. But I don't see that happening in the foreseeable future given the current crop of politicians with whom we have been presented and have ourselves elected. No use getting upset over something that can't be helped right now. The only thing we can do about it is look for potential politicians on the local level to elect who will do something about it someday. Because no one currently associated with Washington DC seems to care one way or the other about budgets.

NOTE: I edited the post to change a word I spelled incorrectly. ("Skeptic" is spelled with a "k" not a "c." Oy.)

I am glad that our menace from space has been eliminated. It is interesting to note that we have developed a missile that can now be fired from a ship and gain orbital status and leave the earth's
gravitational field. I remember a project from the 1980's which was declassified recently and it was known as Icarus II. This project is the second of a series that was begun in the 1960's to try and stop an E.L.E. from entering the earth's atmosphere. There were a series of "objects" placed in orbit to protect us. I wonder if one of these was used to take out the satellite and make us think that we can shoot one down from the surface. Yes, Mr. Reagan is probably laughing about this matter but I remember a time when he was very serious about this plan.
