Who are you voting for?

Reason did something like this before the 2004 election and I wanted to kind recreate it here. Feel free to add your answers in the comments.

Jason Pye, namesake and blogger
- Who are you voting for in 2008? I am undecided in the primary, possibly Ron Paul. I'll most likely vote for the Libertarian Party nominee in the general election.

- Who did you vote for in 2004? Bush, I really wish I could do that one over.

- What vote are you most embarrassed by and why? Bush. I voted for him in 2000 and immediately regretted it. I wish I had voted for Harry Browne. I voted Bush again in 2004 after reading John Hospers endorsement of him. Now I wish I'd voted Michael Badnarik in 2004.

- What issue(s) is (are) most important to you in this election? Decreasing the size of government, cutting spending and regulation and bringing our soldiers home from Iraq.

- Who is your favorite President? Grover Cleveland

Chris Farris, blogger and Chairman of the Republican Liberty Caucus of Georgia
- Who are you voting for in 2008? Anybody but Huckabee.

- Who did you vote for in 2004? Badnarik

- What vote are you most embarrassed by and why? Pretty Much all of them. 1996: Bill Clinton. 2000: Harry Browne, 2004: Badnarik. They were all losers.

- What issue(s) is (are) most important to you in this election? Government Spending. It either needs to be cut, or I need a $500,000 earmark.

- Who is your favorite President? Which one died a month into office?

Erick Erickson, blogger, influential conservative and Macon City Councilman
- Who are you voting for in 2008? Fred Thompson in the primary and the Republican in the General.

- Who did you vote for in 2004? George W. Bush.

- What vote are you most embarrassed by and why? I'm never embarrassed by my votes.

- What issue(s) is (are) most important to you in this election? Fiscal responsibility and a return to small government. The war would be second.

- Who is your favorite President? Calvin Coolidge followed very closely by Ronald Reagan.

Doug Mataconis, blogger and lawyer
- Who are you voting for in 2008? I will vote for Ron Paul in the Virginia Republican Primary, which will be held on February 12th. Beyond that, I have no idea. I am operating on the assumption that Ron Paul won't get the Republican nomination, so my vote in the General Election is still up in the air. I would not vote for Giuliani, Huckabee, or Romney under almost any conceivable circumstance and the only Democrat I could even see myself considering is Bill Richardson, who seems to be the only Democrat in the race who understands free markets even if he's not perfect. Right now, I guess I'd say that I would probably vote for the Libertarian Party candidate.

- Who did you vote for in 2004? I'll admit it, I voted for George W. Bush. I ignored all the problems I had with him, including the Iraq War, and voted for him over Kerry based primarily on the fact that I didn't think he would be strong enough in dealing with international terrorism.

- What voter are you most embarressed by and why?Voting for George W. Bush in 2004, because it was one of the only times I've actually compromised my principles in casting a vote. If I had to do it over again, I would not have voted for President at all.

- What issue(s) is (are) most important to you in this election? Controlling government spending and the growth of government, curtailing and reversing the growth of the surveillance state, reducing government interference in and regulation of the economy, returning power to the states and to the people ( i.e., turning the 9th and 10th Amendments into something other than an inkblot).

I'm sure there's more I could list. Ending the War in Iraq is important, but it's just a symptom of the overall problem of a foreign policy that has been both misguided and poorly executed over the past dozen years or more.

- Who is your favorite President? Thomas Jefferson

John Douglas, State Senator (R-Social Circle)
- Who are you voting for in 2008? Fred Thompson

- Who did you vote for in 2004? George Bush

- What vote are you most embarrassed by and why? Having never voted for a Democrat for President or Governor, I cant think of any embarrassing votes that would have had an impact. Note that I am one of the few Georgians who did not vote for Jimmy Carter in 1976.

- What issue(s) is (are) most important to you in this election? National Defense, Illegal Immigration, Tax Reform, (Fair Tax implementation)

- Who is your favorite President? Ronald Reagan by far........

Rusty Tanton, blogger and founder of the Georgia Podcast Network
- Who are you voting for in 2008? I might have to write myself in. I have no enthusiasm for any candidate on either side right now.

- Who did you vote for in 2004? John Kerry

- What vote are you most embarrassed by and why? Voting for John Edwards in the 2004 primary. He turned out to be a one-note empty suit.

- What issue(s) is (are) most important to you in this election? Ideally, I'd like to think about something big like health care. It probably should be my biggest concern. But really, I think we need to start with a more realistic goal, like electing a president who isn't an embarrassment on a historic scale.

- Who is your favorite President? Teddy Roosevelt

Trevor Southerland, former Executive Director of the LPGA
- Who are you voting for in 2008? Barack Obama

- Who did you vote for in 2004? Michael Badnarik

- What vote are you most embarrassed by and why? I'm not really embarrassed by any of the votes I've cast, they've all been for good people.

- What issue(s) is (are) most important to you in this election? The occupation of Iraq is foremost. Issues such as workers rights and a national health care plan are also a major concern. Generally the overall slump in the American economy and how it's hurting those of us "down here on the ground."

- Who is your favorite President? John F. Kennedy. During President Kennedy's short term he was able to do some few American politicians have ever done, and that is to give hope to the people who needed it the most. Hope of a better tomorrow and hope of a better America for the generations that followed... hope: that's what we need again today.

Wilson Smith, lawyer and radio talk show host
- Who are you voting for in 2008? I'm voting for John Edwards in the primary and whoever the Dems put up in the general.

- Who did you vote for in 2004? Kerry in 04.

- What vote are you most embarrased by and why? I'm embarrassed by my vote for Bush in '00. I think the reason is obvious.

- What issue(s) is (are) most important to you in this election? Removing Republicans from power. I say this solely because there is not a Republican nationally, state or local that I would vote for, so the issues don't really matter.

- Who is your favorite President? Teddy Roosevelt

Jace Walden, blogger
- Who are you voting for in 2008? I am voting for Ron Paul. Ron Paul is the only true small-government conservative in the race. Whether or not he wins the Republican nomination or runs as an independent does not matter. If he’s not on the ballot, I’ll write him in. I won’t waste my vote on a big-government Republican or Democrat.

- Who did you vote for in 2004? I couldn’t bring myself to vote for George W. Bush a second time, nor could I vote for John Kerry. This was before I knew anything about the Libertarian Party, so I wrote my own name on the ballot. I figured I could do just as good a job as either of those two losers…turns out, I was right.

- What vote are you most embarrassed by and why? The first time I was eligible to vote, I voted for Al Gore in 2000. Not that voting for Bush would have been any better. Had I known that the 2000 election would only determine which of the two would be the worst President in U.S. History, I would have written myself in here as well.

- What issue(s) is (are) most important to you in this election? Spending, decreasing the size of government, lower taxes, and more personal freedom. I would also like to see things like warrantless wiretaps and the “PATRIOT” Act repealed.

- Who is your favorite President? I am not old enough to remember a President who was worth a damn. I was barely even six years old when Reagan left office, so I don’t remember anything first hand from his Presidency. Every other President that I do remember has been worthless. So, I’d have to go all of the way back to Thomas Jefferson or George Washington. But to be honest, I like them both…maybe we could go back in time and do a Washington vs. Jefferson cage match. I’d take the winner as my favorite.

Green Death, lawyer and God amongst men
- Who are you voting for in 2008? The Libertarian Nominee – of course.

- Who did you vote for in 2004? I voted for Bush in 20004.

- What vote are you most embarrassed by and why? I am not “embarrassed” by any vote I ever made – Wyche Fowler wasn’t the best vote I ever made.

- What issue(s) is (are) most important to you in this election? Iraq and National Security are the most important issues for me with reducing taxes a close second.

- Who is your favorite President? My favorite President is probably George HW Bush – doesn’t get the credit he deserves.

Larry Stanley, blogger and activist
- Who are you voting for in 2008? Fred Thompson or Pat Paulson, whichever proves conservative credentials

- Who did you vote for in 2004? Bush

Kyle Pinion, musician and former legislative aid
- Who are you voting for in 2008? Still undecided between Barack Obama and Rudy Giuliani, I was heavily Obama until recent weeks.

- Who did you vote for in 2004? John Kerry

- What vote are you most embarrassed by and why? None really, I would say Kerry, but this second Bush term has been so bad and lame-duck, I can't say I'm really embarrassed by it at all.

- What issue(s) is (are) most important to you in this election? Stem Cell Research Enhancement Act Passage and Funding for Disease Research.

- Who is your favorite President? Abraham Lincoln

- Who did you vote for in 2004? Michael Badnarik

- What issue(s) is (are) most important to you in this election? NO socialized medicine, the FairTax, School Choice, Smaller Government, dissolution of ties with the United Nations

- Who is your favorite President? Thomas Jefferson, closely followed by Andrew Jackson

Kevin Boyd, blogger and political consultant

-Who are you voting for in 2008? If absolutely forced to vote in the Louisiana Republican Primary, probably Fred Thompson or John McCain. Ron Paul lost me for good with his belief in the New World Order and North American Union, and I will not vote for Huckabee, Giuliani, or Romney. Most likely though, I'm staying home. In the general maybe the Republican nominee except for Huckabee, maybe the Libertarian if that person is actually sane, most likely, I'm staying home.

-Who did you vote for in 2004? George W. Bush

-What vote are you most embarrassed by and why? Bush in 2004. Worse, I campaigned for him. Bush has been an absolute disaster in his second term.

Marshall McCart--Musician, Realtor, and Business Manager

Who are you voting for in 2008? Ron Paul

- Who did you vote for in 2004? Badnarik

- What vote are you most embarrased by and why? None--I have voted Libertarian in all 3 presidential elections I have participated in.

- What issue(s) is (are) most important to you in this election? Reducing the size and scope of the Federal Government, meaningful tax reform, illegal immigration.

- Who is your favorite President? Andrew Jackson

Who am I voting for?

Rudy Giuliani - proudly. But I'll enthusiastically support Mitt Romney or Fred Thompson if either one of them gets the nomination.

If they don't I'll vote for Libertarian Wayne Root in the general election.

Who would I never vote for?

Hillary, Fascist Obama, Huckabee and Islamo-Fascist supporter Ron Paul.

What vote was I most embarrassed by? Probably Harry Browne in 1996. I should have voted for Dole. Browne turned out to be a leftwing America-hating Anarchist, not a real libertarian.

What issues are most important to me? Winning the War on Islamo-Fascism.

My favorite President? George W. Bush. Vote for him proudly in 2000, and 2004. The greatest President of my lifetime. Though, I wish he'd identify our enemy a bit more as "Islamo-Fascists." He's used the term only once. I liked Reagan and Ford too. Though, Ford screwed up with abandoning our South Vietnamese allies, and in not saving the Cambodian people from the horrors of Pol Pot.

Jason, excuse me for posting this in the comments section, but you list no personal email on your site.

How could you possibly regret not voting for Badnarik in 2004? The guy was awful. He was the worst Presidential candidate the Libertarian Party ever ran, save David Bergland. He had never been elected dog catcher. He never graduated college, and tried to lie about it. He was a latecomer to the Libertarian Party. He drove around with no drivers licence and bragged about it. And no car insurance.

He was a flaming Anarchist, and a loser in his personal life to boot. He was simply an utter embarrassment to the Libertarian Party.

I'll never understand how the LP passed up two fine candidates in Gary Nolan and Aaron Russo to support that nutball.

And btw, Bush's second term has been pretty good. We've won the War in Iraq. We're holding Al Qaeda back in Afghanistan. The Economy is good, lowest unemployment figures in 10 years.

Yeah, he didn't get his privatization of Social Security plan through.

But did you know that Bush has appointed more libertarians to administration posts than all other previous modern-day presidents combined? Gayle Norton, Gerald Reynolds, Bill Evers, Michael Boskin, et.al.

My personal e-mail is on the site.

How could you possibly regret not voting for Badnarik in 2004? The guy was awful.

I don't know if you've noticed but the current occupant of the office isn't all that good.

Badnarik may not have been a great candidate, but he had an understanding of liberty. Something George Bush doesn't have.

Bush's second term has been pretty good.

Er, ok. Not really though.

We've won the War in Iraq.

More than 3,000+ soldiers have died in a conflict that they assumed would be a cakewalk.

Granted, things are better now, but it's a war we shouldn't have fought in the first place. We had no legitimate reason to be there.

The Economy is good, lowest unemployment figures in 10 years.

The economy is slowing down. We have a president who claims to be a conservative that has spent more than LBJ, while increasing entitlement spending which is going to hurt us in the long run.

Things may be ok right now, but the long term fiscal outlook is troublesome.

But did you know that Bush has appointed more libertarians to administration posts than all other previous modern-day presidents combined?

What good has it done? The only appointment that I've been happy with was Janice Rogers Brown.

We've won the War in Iraq.

I've heard that before, from a dude in a flight suit.

Eric,

And btw, Bush's second term has been pretty good.

No it hasn't.

We've won the War in Iraq.

No we haven't.

We're holding Al Qaeda back in Afghanistan.

No we're not.

The Economy is good, lowest unemployment figures in 10 years.

No the economy is starting to slow down. It may not be Bush's fault, but the good economy is not his doing either.

But did you know that Bush has appointed more libertarians to administration posts than all other previous modern-day presidents combined? Gayle Norton, Gerald Reynolds, Bill Evers, Michael Boskin, et.al.

They haven't been very influential have they...
