Ride the Train? NOT!
We constantly hear a small group of developers and highly educated 'smart growth' planners tell us that Henry County needs commuter rail service. It matters little that every study proves taxpayers will take a severe hit to provide a service very few will use. Nor does it matter that no rail system in the US has been (a) self supporting, or (b) making a profit, or (c) breaking even.
What we know is that a rail system allows moving people who want to ride or those who cannot afford to ride any other way. The proposed rail through Hampton would serve only those whose property will be developed for high-density, low cost housing. There is no tourism benefit. There are no emloyment benefits. Of course, crime rates will rise while a transient population follow the rail. Yet proponents do not want to discuss these issues.
Well here is another study that spells wasted money, brains and time.... WOMBAT!

Comments
So metro Houston, Dallas, Salt Lake, etc. (all fairly conservative areas)
are making mistakes by starting commuter rail?
And Chicago, Boston, Washington D.C. aren't better for having fantastic commuter rail?
Crime rates will rise? Are you getting your info. from lobbyists for road builders?
