LNC urges Ron Paul to seek nomination
The Libertarian National Committee has adopted a resolution that invites Ron Paul to seek the LP presidential nomination. Stephen Gordon reports that Bob Barr made the motion and the resolution was adopted without opposition.
The resolution states:
In the event that Republican primary voters select a candidate other than Congressman Paul in February of 2008, the Libertarian National Committee invites Congressman Ron Paul to seek the presidential nomination of the Libertarian Party to be decided in Denver, Colorado during the Memorial Day weekend of 2008.Dr. Paul has said on many occasions that he has no plans to run a third party or independent campaign and there is no reason to not accept his word, but you have to wonder.

I hate it when we (Libertarians) do things like this. I feel like its a cheap trick for publicity.
Further, extending and offer to run a candidate who couldn't cut it in a republican primary sends all kinds of wrong marketing messages. Even with our history of... *colorful* candidates.
I do understand why it was done, but if we want to be taken seriously in big politics we have to act accordingly.
This was a gut reaction rant, I'll now take the time to rethink and likely regret this comment.

Ron Paul as Libertarian candidate for president would hand the election to Hilary Clinton. I'm a Liberatarian and supporter of Ron Paul (and any Libertarian on the ballot for that matter)but talk about a catch 22...
