Hampton is Election To Watch

The AJC listed five hot election races to watch, and our own Joshua Patterson is among the candidates named.

• Hampton: The seven men vying for three City Council seats consist of three incumbents, a former councilman, a pastor, a former city official and 20-year-old Joshua Patterson. The college student is campaigning on improving economic development in this Henry County city, home to the Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Most that we read about Hampton's council candidates reads like a continuation of past races. Josh provides a new face and a clean approach.

Josh Patterson possesses all of the necessary experience required to be an effective voice for the citizens of Hampton. He is a third-generation Hampton citizen with a passion for helping his neighbors in the community. He has a real desire to make a difference in that great city and make it a better place to live for future generations.

Josh stated his priorities when elected:

I strongly believe Hampton should focus on business development. We need to make Hampton an attractive place to conduct business for the sake of our citizens. An economically sound city can withstand the tests of economic downturns and negative real estate trends. When elected, I'll make it a priority to listen to the concerns of every citizen, regardless of their reputation, profession, or political status. Everyone deserves a voice in government.

Josh's enthusiasm is refreshing. In the last council election the voters made a clear choice to realign the council away from bickering and personal battles. This time, Josh Patterson will add a very compatible and effective voice for the City of Hampton.

If I could vote for you Josh, I would. Good luck, man.

I agree. If I could vote for you I would, too. Hell, you got guts running when there are people who will throw your age at you. Larry is right and hopefully Hampton citizens will support the same with their vote tomorrow. I will be watching 14 for the results and look forward to watching your victory.

Good Luck Josh. I hope you win. However, if you don't, please don't give up. If at first you don't succeed - so much for skydiving.
