Richt apologizes for celebration
Mark Richt has apologized for Saturday's excessive celebration:
Calling his direction "inappropriate," Georgia coach Mark Richt on Monday apologized in writing to SEC commissioner Mike Slive for the Bulldogs' bench-clearing excessive-celebration penalty against Florida .In case you misssed it..."As a followup to our telephone discussion earlier today, I do want to apologize in writing for what transpired after the first score of the Georgia/Florida game this past Saturday when our entire team left the bench area to celebrate the score," Richt wrote to Slive.
[...]
"Again, I was expecting the eleven players on the field to be doing the celebrating, not for the bench to clear as it did," Richt wrote in his letter to Slive. "I understand that the entire team running on the field created the potential for an altercation and that excessive celebration is not in compliance with the Southeastern Conference sportsmanship policies and expected standards. My only intention was to create enthusiasm."
[...]
"I apologize that I put everyone in that situation and specifically apologize to you, the Southeastern Conference, and the University of Florida," Richt wrote in conclusion. "You can be assured I will not ask our team to do this type of thing again."
How many times has Florida embarrassed us? Watch the video...the looks on the faces of the Gators says it all. They were demoralized from the very beginning of the game. All Georgia did was level the playing field. No apology is needed.

I agree, no apology necessary.

No need to apologize but it was definitely bush league & solidifies in my mind the inferiority complex that UGA has for UF.

46-37-2
Wins, Losses, Ties against UF.
2-2
Record against Florida from 2004-2007.
What inferiority complex are you talking about?
The so-called "streak" is over.

The inferiority complex I mentioned is backed up by your comment mentioning a "so-called streak."
Who mentioned anything about a streak? I mentioned a complex.
First, all-time records are irrelevant. Next we'll hear Alabama people screaming about their 12 national championships.
But if you want to talk about a streak, yeah 2-2 isn't bad, but it's still mediocre at best. 15-3 is more indicative of how to measure any type of streak. Wait. Or should that go 3-15?

Florida "embarrassed us" by constantly beating us at the "cocktail party".
I thought it was a little excessive to have the entire team run out there, it was bush league.
But ehey won the game that is all that matters.

Danny,
You still haven't made a case for the alleged "inferiority complex".
I mentioned the all time record because I'm trying to figure out where you pulled this "complex" from.
I wasn't bragging about 2-2 in the last four games, I was simply pointing out that the only reason that there would have been an inferiority complex (the streak) is over. For the last 4 years (the Eras of Richt and Meyer), the teams are evenly matched.

The inferiority complex isn't alleged.
-UF by 20
-UGA by 7 in a "stunner"
-UF wins big
What were the predictions for UGA in other weeks this/last year? I doubt anybody would claim a blowout loss or a 7 point win a "stunner."
The UGA arrogance isn't there when competing against Florida. It's more "Can we?" rather than "We are..." I heard that from UGA people on the radio last Saturday before the game, so don't assume those are my words.
So this begs the question: Why did Mark Richt feel the need to pull such a bush league
