More money in the bank than McCain?

Holy freakin' hell, Ron Paul has more money on the bank than John McCain?:

Though often regarded as a longshot candidate for president, Republican Ron Paul tells ABC News that he has an impressive $2.4 million in cash on hand after raising an equal amount during the second quarter, putting him ahead of one-time Republican frontrunner John McCain, who reported this week he has only $2 million in the bank.

In an exclusive interview taped Friday and airing Sunday on "This Week," Paul said his campaign is on a better trajectory than McCain's.

"I think some of the candidates are on the down-slope, and we're on the up-slope," said Paul.

Paul's cash on hand puts him in third place in the Republican field in that important metric, although he is well behind leader Rudy Giuliani, who has $18 million in the bank, and Mitt Romney, with $12 million.

I'd like to see the polls numbers come up for Dr. Paul, but I don't believe that is likely.

WHERE'S FRED?

When is Fred Thompson going to announce. Since nothing more has blown up and no more terrorist have been kicked in the privates, it looks to me to be a good time to announce. We could have "All Fred, All the time, All weekend". Who's running his campaign? Wouldn't it be wise to take advantage of this dip in the news cycle?

Fred Thompson is hosting his first fund raiser in Atlanta tonight. Susan and I were going until she got stuck in the doctor's office too long.

John McCain is sinking faster than a rock in a lake so dont compare him with any candidate you have hopes for.

Come on Jason have a little more faith and enthusiasm for the only true conservative in the 2008 presidential race !

Right on CSP! Why not Dr. Paul? He is resonating with people of all backgrounds. And obviously the poll numbers are skewed because a lot of people in their late teens, twenties, and thirties don't have landlines (myself included). Dr. Paul saw his funds skyrocket after the last debate and I think the same will happen after the ones coming up. I don't think there is any doubt now that he is at the top of the 2nd tier candidates.
