Watson to run for DeKalb CEO

State Rep. Stan Watson is running for DeKalb CEO:

State Rep. Stan Watson wants to be the next chief executive officer of DeKalb County, after the last term for Vernon Jones expires at the end of 2008.

Watson, a Decatur Democrat, said Monday he is ready to make the switch from lawmaking to local services.

"I think I'm the best choice for the job based on my experience in the community, my experience in government and my consensus-building skills," said Watson, who has represented his 91st District House seat in south DeKalb since 1997.

Watson represents parts of Stockbridge in Henry County. I wish him luck.

This announcement has been rumored for months! Stan has been instrumental in convening a bi-monthly Town Hall Meeting to facilitate citizen discussions with invited officials. If successful in his quest, the disappearance of the Town Hall Meeting series will be sorely missed. Good luck Stan!
