Sharpton's bigotry
I'm not the biggest fan of Mitt Romney, but I'm on his side on this:
Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney Wednesday called Rev. Al Sharpton's remarks about Mormonism "terribly misguided" and said the remark could be considered a "bigoted comment."[UPDATE] As Joe points out in the comments, perhaps this has been taken out of context. I think I'm willing to give Sharpton the benefit of the doubt after hearing it for myself."It shows that bigotry still exists in some corners," Romney said at a campaign event in Iowa. "I thought it was a most unfortunate comment to make."
In a radio debate Tuesday night, Sharpton said "those who really believe in God will defeat" Romney for the White House. Sharpton later said he was not questioning Romney's Mormon faith but instead was aiming his comments toward Christopher Hitchens, the author he was debating.
"Perhaps he didn't mean it that way, but the way it came out was inappropriate and wrong," Romney added Wednesday.
Also, Joe and company are right...Sharpton needs to apologize to the Duke LaCrosse team.

It amazes me beyond explanation that race-baiting bigots like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson are still relevant enough to attract major media coverage.
Black Community,
Do these guys really speak for you?

You think Sharpton will be barred from CBS Radio now? How about MSNBC?
BTW, I am still wating for him to apologize to the Duke LaCrosse players and Coach. Apologies are big at the moment, lets get this one out of the way.

Don't hold your breath for Sharpton to apologize. And don't hold your breath for Sharpton to be barred from the networks, either. One good thing about Sharpton is that he continues to make himself irrelevant.

Senator Douglas is exactly right.

I've just listened to the debate from which the comment was made (I'm currently reading Hitchens book, who is an atheist) and well, gulp...(I can't believe I am saying this)... Sharpton was totally taken out of context in meaning.
It was clear from listening to the debate that Sharpton was not lambasting Mormons but was responding to Hitchen's critique that the Mormons once endorsed segregation. Sharpton then stated, “As for the one Mormon running for office, those who that really believe in God (meaning the majority of those who claim a belief in God and not the smaller number of atheist) will defeat him anyway, so don’t worry about that, that’s a temporary – that’s a temporary situation.”
Hear for yourself on the New York Public Library.
I am guessing though that many will say 'pft...not waisting my time' and will carry on believing what they will. In my opinion, it's worth a listen. I'm by no means a Sharpton apologist, but fair is fair and I do not believe he was jabbing Mormons.
I do agree he should apologize to the Duke players and the coach.

I have to disagree. Maybe I am going back to my 7th and 8th grade experience in diagramming sentences, but consider this...
Rev. Al is naming 2 separate entities...
1. "The only Mormon running for office..."
2. "Those of us who REALLY believe in GOD..." [this could not possibly represent those who DO NOT believe in GOD- athiests- diametrically opposed]
He states that #2 will defeat #1.
