Vote "NO" on March 20th

Absentee voting has started for the education SPLOST. Signs are already going up around the county in support of it. Now is the time to send a message to the Board of Education that we can't just keep throwing money at our problems. Doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result is the very definition of insanity.

Tell all your family and friends to vote "NO" on education SPLOST.

Jason:

The Word MUST get out about this!!!!! The BOE purposely left little time for voters to make an informed decision on this!

I beg every reader of Jason's blog to e-mail every person in their address book that lives in Henry County to vote NO to SPLOST. This tax only allows the BOE to be sloppy and mismanage the money they do have. BOE lied to us about the "bond referendum," and they are lying now. Do not trust them with your wallet!!

Jason: Post the date of the special election!!

Ooops! I have not had enough coffee!!! I see the March 20 special election date!!!

I guess if I had no property in the county I would not want a consumption tax either.

Sure vote no and kill the school system and watch the county turn to blight.

Sure makes a great deal of sense to me, must be that great LP intellect.

Come on Jason do you really hate public schools so much?

Vote no and slow growth by strangulation so we, property owners, can die on the vine while transits people who are sure to move out of the county anytime their girl friend says GO.

Great move friend, vote no and save a penny, kill public schools and county land values. Makes sense to me.

'...we can't just keep throwing money at our problems.'

Vote 'Yes' on the education SPLOST and vote 'No' on those you believe may not manage it correctly.

Historically, people have approved SPLOSTs because they believed the lie that they would keep property taxes down. Well, our BoE has raised the millage for schools to the legal max. Government will always dig increasingly deeper into our pockets until we cut them off and they have to be fiscally responsible. It is way overdue in Henry County. Now is the time. Vote NO.

Every now and then people disagree, my spouse and I differ on opinions at the diner table and friends argue on blogs about political positions. Jason’s view on the education SPLOST vote is all too wrong and reminds me of Hillary’s notions on economics, which is she hasn’t a clue.

If we remember just a few weeks ago Hillary claimed she would seize oil profits, “I want to take those profits…” Hillary declared she would confiscate private property to do with as she sees best. Now Hillary wants to restrict free trade and limit access to currency for trade and investments.

There is currently $12 trillion in foreign nongovernmental investment in the USA. That private investment created millions of jobs for American workers and hundreds of billions of income and taxes; it tripled our economy over the same 20 years.

Now Hillary wants to restrict capital and free trade by foreigners because she feels the US is too dependent on foreign capital just like we are too reliant on overseas oil.

Hillary has never claimed to be the Martha Stewart in the kitchen and this stance she is making is the recipe for economic disaster. It will create stagflation not growth and wreak havoc on our economy much like Jason’s vote no on the education SPLOST. Jason has little life experience on such matters and his utopia view in LP life is the recipe for disaster in Henry County. Voting no will only exacerbate the problems of the school system. Once the school system goes the community goes.

I am not saying there are problems at or with the school system. However, this recipe not make Jason pay a penny in taxes is wrong. It is the fairest way to tax just like the Fair Tax that is being pushed by Libertarian Boortz. If Jason wants to save his money versus spending it he won’t have to pay that penny.

I joined the LP less than a year ago because Republicans have proven they haven't got a clue either. You bash the Democrats on one hand and then share in their demand to throw more and more money into failing systems. Doing the same thing and expecting different results is one definition of insanity.

The school system has already gone. That's why our SAT scores were just above Dekalb and Clayton.

Funding isn't the issue here, the school system has had enough of that.

The issue here is that the schools in the county are already failing and already falling apart and the BOE isn't looking ways to make use of the money they already have.

This has nothing to do with my membership in the Libertarian Party. It has to do with me being a fiscal conservative that is tired of seeing money wasted, which I thought was your gripe as well.

I don't agree with everything the LP does or says, you should know that enough by now based on conversations we've had in private.

Funding isn't the issue here?

"The issue here is that the schools in the county are already failing and already falling apart.."

Easily said, where is the proof? Throwing out misleading statements to sway a no vote? Show me, what are your sources for such a grand statement?

The SAT and CRCT scores weren't enough proof?

Nope, looking at these scores Henry is improving (but 7 points below average) on a yearly basis. You can not dispute that fact can you? Seems the system is going in the right direction but now that there has been improvement on a yearly basis over an extended period you think we should do away with ppublic education because you have to pay a penny in taxes. Does the LP really want to do away with public education creating huge rifts in those that have and those that do not? Keep people uneducated and they might want to vote for LP? What a crazy world you live in.

This E-SPLOST has no direct association with test scores. It is strictly for construction outlay. The State is too busy trying to spread the wealth all over instead of where it is needed most, high growth counties. I know this first hand, trust me. Furthermore Jason, the School system can not control the BOC and the growth that it approves. I do not like taxes and I do not like waste in government and I do not agree with everything HC Schools does, however we must try to help get our children out of these trailers! With some 40,000 students we currently have around 10,000 in trailers! I will be happy if we just have more than 10 percent of the people make the decision!

Henry isn't improving. It is getting worse and we keep throwing money at the problem.

Sure Jason lets do away with the school system so you can save a penny.

Henry isn't improving. It is getting worse

Where's the proof? The SAT and ACT scores have been improving, that means they are going up.

Vote no so I can save a penny mentality is selfish. did you get an education? Did anyone pay any portion of it besides your mother?

Did anyone pay any portion of it besides your mother?

I took my first job at the age of 14 working at the Southlake Chick-fil-a so I could pay a portion of my private education. I ultimately graduated from a public school, against my mother's wishes and now I realize the mistake I made.

My mother paid the bulk of my private education while working two jobs and going to school full-time and she was a single parent because of the loss of my father.

So don't sit there and tell me how hard life can be.

Vote no so I can save a penny mentality is selfish.

It is rational self-interest and it is not immoral or selfish. Unlike you, I am not a collectivist.

The SAT and ACT scores have been improving, that means they are going up.

Henry is below the state average and any improvement was mediocre at best and we still are right there with Clayton and DeKalb...some improvement.
