Jodeco Road Project
In case you haven't seen it, here are the plans for the Jodeco Road exit improvements:
The 1.1 mile reconstruction of the I-75/Jodeco Road (CR 824) Interchange begins on Jodeco Road at the intersection of Plantation Blvd. With proposed improvements, the exisitng two-lane Jodeco Road would transition to and become a four lane urban roadway with a variable flush median to relocated Feucht Drive. The project would include a new 10 lane bridge over I-75 as well as reconstruct and widen the I-75 conventional diamond ramps.

What are your thoughts on what GDOT has in store for Jodeco Road?

This is great!
This should help with our tax roll in getting more commercial development.
Wiht Jodeco Campground project this will add a tremendous amount of needed commercial development.
Now I know all you LP GBs will want to pooh pooh on this and say Henry won't be farms anymore but that's the way it is.

Looks like a good start to me.
The Henry County farms are on their way out anyway. The farmers should be able to pack up and move elsewhere with their pockets full. Good for them.

I don't have any particular issues with this proposal. So your point is completely baseless.
Henry needs more commercial development, but needs to focus on higher paying jobs, not Wal-Marts and McDonalds.

So we shouldn’t have middle class wage earners Jason?
The median wage in of Georgia is around $42,000. What do you think one of the largest employers in Henry County median income level is? Wal-Mart pays better than you think.
I haven't worked at McDonalds in over 30 years, back then I earned $5.50 an hour. It wouldn't surprise me that they pay more than that now. I bet if one worked full time there they could make $20,000 a year with no education at all. (Seeing how you want to get rid of education in the US, we'll need McDonald's to employ all those uneducated people you would deprive.)
Tell us in the LP utopia how does one get higher paying jobs and how do they get them to come to Henry County now that our education system is in such dire straights.

Thinking irrationally can make you tell all sorts of lies.
I've never said that. I have a strong belief that education should be provided by the private sector.
I also support the elimination of the DOE, but so does Lynn Westmoreland. And I seem to remember that also being one of the agenda items for the GOP in 1994.
This has nothing to do with my party. The county government needs to be sent a message that we are tired of the political games. We are tired of simply throwing money at the issues that face the county.
So we shouldn’t have middle class wage earners Jason?
I never said that. Individuals should take pride in their work, no matter what they earn or where they work at.

I have a strong belief that education should be provided by the private sector.
So you believe that private education is best.
What is the cost of education from grades k through 12?
Let’s take a look at it.
As you pointed out in one of your angry outburst on education, the budget for Henry County is about $312 million for 34,000 +/- kids or $9176. This took into consideration capital expenditures that can be debated on weather it is a direct cost in the education of the child. The school system says they spend about $6700 or so on educating a child. You being the person of all knowledge and correctness we’ll go with your figure, $9176.
Two years in the Pre-k and K and the 12 years in the system would cost $128,464. Tell me Jason with all those millions of people that can not afford a few hundred dollars a month for Health insurance how are they going to pay for educating their 2.5 children? You’re telling me that these same people are going to be able to fund $321,160 for their kids to learn? Sure they are. Break it down further, $1911 a month for education or a couple of hundred for health insurance. Hell they can not even pay for health care.
You, single handedly want to create a division among those that can afford and those that can not afford education.
Thinking irrationally can make you tell all sorts of lies.
I've never said that. I have a strong belief that education should be provided by the private sector.
You have said that you believe there should be no public education and that each person should pay for their own education. We have had this conversation many times. I have not lied about that, examine your archives. And yes you are irrational on your justification for saving a penny.

You have said that you believe there should be no public education and that each person should pay for their own education...
You said I wanted to get rid of education, which implies that I don't want an educated society. I've never said that and that is a lie. So why are you not beating up members of your own party for saying the same thing that I've said?
It is true that I don't believe in public education because the system is broken.
As I've also said before I can compromise at a voucher system for all students, you are forgetting that.

Folks! Can't we all just get along?
ngreenbaum: I private educate my child. My child has been in private school since kindergarten, and is now in the 10th grade. Her tuition this coming year is over $18K, books will be another $600, and uniforms will cost me another $250.00. And guess what? I'm not rich by ANY stretch of the imagination. How do I do it? By making wise choices about my expenditures over the years, and sitting in damn traffic for more than four hours per day to commute to Atlanta where they pay me over 100% more than what I was being paid in Henry County for the same work! That doesn't mean I am making a huge salary now--it is saying my salary in Henry County was so paultry, I had to go to Atlanta for work.
Now, please, I beg you: Don't belittle me because I do what I do. From "appearences sake," I, by no stretch of the imagination, fit in with the "parental environment" at my daughter's school. But I don't judge them, and I doubt they judge me. Regardless, it is possible to send a child to private school if you plan your budget wisely. By that, I am not saying it is possible for everyone--but it is possible.
Now: To the real point--we do need more quality commercial development as opposed to more of the same "high density" housing. We have SOOOO many people living in Henry County, and not enough well-paying employment to keep them in the county. That's pretty much a definition of "gridlock."
Jodeco would certainly be better served with additional commercial development.

Not that what we think matters anyway, but something has to be done to handle the increasing traffic on Jodeco Rd. This is a start, but the remaining span between the new bridge area and Hwy42 should all be four lanes. I live off of Jodeco near Oak Grove, and even on the weekends we
