The mindset of a moron

Joshua Patterson sent me an article about the homeless in Hawaii. He pointed to this quote in the article that has made my blood boil, as he knew it would.

A woman interviewed in the article said...and I quote, ""Being homeless is not a crime, it is the fault of the government." That's right, being homeless is the fault of our government. It isn't from the result of poor personal choices or the lack of education, both individual responsibilities...it's because of the government.

Refusal to accept personal responsibility for choices and actions is a learned mindset. If there were no welfare state, no nanny state - nobody saying "We am from the government, we are here to help," -- people would never have learned to dodge life's realities.

Where it started I cannot say. But it surely got a jump-start from FDR, then more fuel from LBJ. Today it appears there are many who have learned to access the public treasury to buy votes, control education and provide a class of mindless followers. Remember that when you hear Sharpton or Jackson speak, or if you even consider voting for a Hillary.

I think it is noteworthy that the woman adopted a six year old child. How did she get the child if she was homeless, or if she wasn't already homeless, how did she not see the financial burden of adopting a child?

Hey Larry,

During the 12 years we had a Republican majority in the Congress, 6 of those years being spent with a Republican President as well...

What did the Republican Party do to help reduce or end the welfare state?

Because just from looking at the numbers, it would appear that the GOP has simply increased the welfare state across the board.

I agree that Sharpton, Jackson and Hillary are to blame... but so are Newt, George, Tom and the gang...

Republicans had the power to address the welfare state and they didn't. Instead, they went on a spending spree. Republicans like to paint the Democrats as big spenders, but the facts about spending over the past 6 years show that the Republicans have trumped them in that regard.

Q: What did the Republican Party do to help reduce or end the welfare state?

A: Nothing.

I have never heard Newt, for example, preach the gospel of entitlement in regard to refusing personal responsibility. Nor have I seen him (again, for example) grabbing news headlines for the sole purpose of fostering and engendering a hopeless, helpless, anti-establishment class of ne'er do wells. On the other hand, Big Al & Rev. Jess are experts at it.

I agree the Republicans screwed up in several major arenas. But the examples I used to typify class warfare, and your argument, seem more like comparing apples and oranges.

MyMoney,

Both parties are too good at spending both my money and your money.

I agree with you Joe. Neither the Republicans nor the Democrats are going to give us less government. I could be wrong, but I doubt Hillary would increase spending any more than W has. The only choice is one of the third parties who can't win, but we've got to start somewhere.
