The best BBQ around...
It's great to see a local business take off like Shane's Rib Shack has:
Slow-cooked ribs are a popular Southern cuisine often served up by mom-and-pop roadside restaurants, but Shane Thompson and his backers believe the shack he opened in this Atlanta suburb four years ago is a model for a national chain. The BBQ is great...the best I've ever had, but the Brunswick Stew needs work.Shane’s Rib Shack, with its mouthwatering ribs, short wait times and tin-roofed or porch-like interiors, has 40 restaurants in eight states, and it plans to open another 60 in the next year.
Parent company Raving Brands, a privately held firm that bought the concept from Thompson in 2004, has set a lofty goal of reaching 2,000 locations across the country by 2020 in an industry where the largest U.S. barbecue chain only has about 150 restaurants.
Analysts and competitors are watching to see if Shane’s, with projected systemwide sales this year of $19 million, fizzles or sizzles.

Shane's Rib Shack not only has the best BBQ around but also has a great owner that I enjoy calling a friend. I have had his catering at many of my events as well as at the Capitol for my staff and everyone loves it! Shane is a great person and I am happy his vision has become a great success. I honored him on his 3rd Anniversary with HR 1015, you can see at http://www.legis.ga.gov/legis/2005_06/fulltext/hr1015.htm
Merry Christmas everyone and Happy Birthday Jason.

What a nice life story composed as a bill.

Be it further resolved that "bill" in the previous post shall be replaced with "resolution."

I wasn't impressed with Shane's last night - I still think Sonnys is Georgia's BBQ
Tho Fat Matts is excellent every three months or three thousand miles.

I have to agree - the barbecue is great, but the brunswick stew bears no resemblance whatsoever to that which it's named after. It's more like a thick sauce of tomatoes and corn with some meat thrown in.

Any Shane's out in the Marietta/E.Cobb area? So far I've been a fan of Williamson Bros myself, but I'd definitely like to give it a try...
