Podcast with John Douglas
A funny thing happened yesterday. I was checking my e-mail and I had a message from Senator John Douglas asking me if we could do the podcast at the state capitol as opposed to his home in Social Circle. I had completely forgot that the podcast was scheduled for the 21st. I kept thinking that the 21st was Saturday for some reason. I almost dropped the ball on it.
Ok...so, dumb story over.
Thanks to Senator Douglas for sitting down to do the podcast. Among the topics we discussed were veterans, commuter rail, immigration and pre-filed legislation (both by him and a couple of others).
You can download the podcast here (24 min/22 MB).
You can subscribe to the PyeCast on iTunes. We are also a proud affiliate of the Georgia Podcast Network.
The music used in the podcast is "The Most Wonderful Time of the Year" by In Memory from the A Santa Cause: It's a Punk Rock Christmas.

Note: the protesters the at funerals in Kansas that inspired the anti-protest laws were actually right-wing anti-gay religious groups, not "leftists." Crazy goes both ways.

Sorry to hog your comments, but I found Sen. Douglas' view on vouchers very interesting. I think he's dead on with his ambivalence toward vouchers for a very good reason (which relates to the public parks discussion): "that government never pays for anything that it doesn't put regulations on."
In other words, people asking for government to pay their way through private school with vouchers should be careful what they ask for.

You're right, crazy does go both ways. I should have clarified the protest question better.
What he said about regulation with school vouchers is my only real issue with with them.

Thanks for the chance to express my views.
Our trip to New Mexico was canceled due to bad weather.
As for the funeral protestors, the lunatic right and lunatic left have few differences, other than maybe their appearence.

I enjoyed listening to your interview. However, it was a little softball. I didn't hear any tough questions for the good senator.
Why didn't you ask him about his totalitarian social views?

I would do the same for anyone that has taken time out of their day to sit down for an interview. My intent was not to put him on the defensive.
Also, it was supposed to be a 20 to 25 minute interview. Asking about social issues would have dragged it on for an hour and he had somewhere to be. Though, there are some things that absolutely need to be discussed.
But perhaps the Senator would like to take some time one day to discuss some of those issues.

I'm not trying to be overly critical. Keep up the good work.

Gotcha, thanks.
