Spurrier whining about calls
Steve Spurrier is complaining about the referees from last Saturday against Georgia:
"I heard our fans booing a lot the other night and later in the week I learned that Georgia should've been called for about 12, 13 clips or holds during that game that wasn't called," Spurrier said on his weekly radio call-in show.Of course South Carolina got away with their fair share of missed calls. Including a pass by Stafford that should have been caught by Massaquoi in the end zone, but a South Carolina defensive back held his arm, preventing him from catching the ball. It should have been pass interference, but there was no call."I'm not berating the officials, but we learned later the head of officials said, 'Hey, those should've been called," Spurrier continued.
Spurrier said as long as teams can get away with penalties, "you might as well do it."
Maybe the referees were too busy laughing your team mascot (Gamecocks) to pay attention to the game.
[UPDATE] Joe Magyer of the American Politic writes:
I would like to formally propose a new feature for your website that is a fixture on Mike & Mike on ESPN Radio: the weekly Just Shut Up Award. Every week, you could start a thread asking people to nominate a politico for the Just Shut Up Award and they could make their case. Maybe you could set up a poll and let people vote, or maybe you could just choose yourself and explain why they should just shut up. This would be so awesome.Haha, not a bad idea...I nominate Steve Spurrier and Jack Kingston.

Could be worse. Penn State got called for clipping that included zero contact whatsoever...
But that's what happens when you play Notre Dame, something I can explain to you Georgia folks with three simple words: "helmet-to-helmet"...
