The returns are in....
.... and its a good day for the Republican Party and the people of Georgia.
First off I want to congratulate all my comrades in the 4th. You've once again tossed off the yoke of insanity and nominated a candidate that might actually represent some of you. Talk show hosts across the land are in mourning.
As for the RLC, two of our three endorsed candidates won last night. Karen Handel beat Bill "that's one hell of a limp" Stephens by 14% of the vote. Karen will make an excellent Secretary of State. RLC endorsee Brian Kemp lost his bid to become Georgia's next Ag. Commissioner. Up in the Canton area, Sean Jerguson beat this opponent by 35 votes.
Nationally, the Republicans did pretty well too. Joe Lieberman's loss to Ted Lamont indicates a shift in the Democrats power structure to the far left. I consider this good news because the farther left the Democrats go, the more incompetent the Republicans can be and still maintain their majority.
Speaking of incompetent Republicans, Joe Schwarz (R-MI) lost his primary re-election bid to Tim Walberg. Walberg was being backed by my favorite 527, the Club for Growth. And in Colarado, another Club for Growth candidate, Doug Lamborn won his primary and will most likely be the next Congressman from the 5th district.

We've exchanged an email or two Chris, and you seem like an alright guy... but this illustrates why I would never leave the Libertarian Party, regardless of the RLC's existence. This sentence makes me want to puke, and represents everything wrong with your party over the past decade.

So there's nothing that makes you want to puke at the Libertarian Party?
Every single thing the LP does is the cat's meow with you?
You are the LP?

Unfortunately the farther left the Dems go the Republicans move closer to the center. The Club for Growth is having a good election cycle.
The LP killed there ligitimate chances with their stance on the war. Kind of reminds me of that perot fella and his party.

I'm not sure what (if any) points you're driving toward, cmob. As a pragmatic Libertarian, I find no shortage of things to complain about internally. So what? You can't point out the flaws in a statement unless you believe that all statements of everyone associated with you are flawless?!
If the Chairman of the Georgia Libertarian Party wishes to build cozy personal ties with the GOP, and even give front-page posting rights on his personal site to the RLC, that's his perogative. However, should any Republicans post sentiments along the lines of, "Thank God the Democrats are choking, so we won't be as pressured to be worth a damn ourselves", they should hopefully expect some form of rebuttal from somebody.

Yeah, because opposition to the Iraq war is becoming a less credible position with each passing day. Right.

Steve,
The purpose of this site is debate.
I've been involved a lot in local politics in the last year. Down here there are mostly Republicans, so you don't really have much of a choice.
Chris Farris is a friend. I offered him front page posting rights. I don't agree with his views, but it sparks debate.
This site existed long before I took helm of LPGa.

That they should. And I'll be addressing why I think that sometime in the (hopefully) near future.

I think you're taking that comment a step or two further that it was intended, Jason. Even so, as a Gwinnett resident I sharply disagree with the "not really having much a choice" view... if you can't get involved with local politics in absense of an elected Libertarian majority, then there's not a square inch of earth on the planet where one could get involved. I guess it just depends on the definition of "involved".

This is the purpose of politics. The RLC and the Libertarian Party are on the same side of many political issues. Politics is all about building ties with other political groups to help advance your agenda.

Jason has built this website to something that should be read on a daily basis for the latest news on southside politics. The fact that he is the state chair of the Libertarians just shows that he is for smaller government and more individual responsibility. But being chairman of a party with no elected officials means you have to reach out to the party nearest your beliefs, and that is the Republicans. Because Jason has done that and hitched his wagon to winning candidates, he has the influence he needs to accomplish his goals. He has shown the instinct of an astute political observer and all signs point to him continuing to be successful in his efforts.

Alright now guys... some of you are making it out like I called Jason an "Uncle Tom" or something, when nothing could be further from the truth. I've met Jason in person, been working with him for a little while now, and have been working with others that have known Jason for far longer... and I have no doubts about his heart being in the right place.
My comment was that, given that context, no one should expect to post some nonsense like that "Thank God we don't have to be competent" Freudian slip earlier and not have someone call them out on it. Don't try to twist something into an "infighting" thing when it was squarely an "outfighting" thing!
