There are two weeks left in the primary campaign. All of the statewide offices are to be filled in this and the autumn cycle.
Over the past several years, I have come to know many of the candidates. For the most part, they are fine and honorable people who would serve with honor and distinction. However, I can't help but believe one stands clearly above the others when we look closely at the race for Lt Governor.
Senator Casey Cagle of Hall County is the right choice for Georgia. I have worked with him in the House and Senate and now am working for him to move into the number two office in our state. I have not made this move without considerable thought. Let me share some of my reasons.
Casey has the experience of being a Senator and on the first day of presiding over the Senate, would be ready to begin work on the vital issues facing our state. He knows how the Senate works, he knows the personalities involved and he has long established ties with the Senators he would be amongst. His Republican opponent can claim none of those attributes. Casey would be a partner with our soon to re elected Governor. Sonny could depend on Casey to take important initiatives and plans and bring them to reality. Sonny and Casey served together for many years in the Senate and will work hand in hand to improve our state. For the first time, Republicans would have an executive level team that would benefit us all. Casey has not been involved in any of the deals and "arrangements" that seem to be tracking his opponent. The work of state government including the Senate is too important to have serious ethical questions dogging our Lt Governor during his term in office. We must have a man who can concentrate on the job at hand and not on what government lawyers and the Congress are doing about his past. For these and many other reasons, I honestly and deeply believe that Senator Casey Cagle is the best candidate for LT Governor of Georgia. Please join with me in supporting Casey in early voting as well as on July 18th and lets move this state forward under a united party banner with Sonny Perdue for Governor and Casey Cagle for Lt Governor.
