With the Nov. 30 runoff election, we have finally reached the end of another election season. If I learned one thing throughout this season, particularly related to the District 2 commissioner election, it is that endorsements and family legacy don’t matter near as much as the ability to lead.
Herman Talmadge ran a good, clean campaign; leading the way in the November 2 general election, Herman picked up the endorsements of Mac Collins, John Douglas, John Lunsford, John Yates, and Steve Davis. These endorsements have debatable value, but one thing is certain, not a single one of these individuals lives in the second district of Henry County. I don’t know about you, but I prefer the candidate that will look out for the interests of the second district, not the interests of the state level politicians that volunteered a few meaningless endorsements.
I look forward to Fred’s term leading the second district. He is a man of unquestionable character, high intelligence, and unrivaled passion for the citizens of this district and of this county. Two years ago, when Fred’s name was hardly known in Henry political circles, we sat down for breakfast at a McDonough restaurant. At that time, five months before the GOP primary for County Commission Chairman, I had planned to support another candidate. In less than an hour, Fred overwhelmingly convinced me that he was the right person to help lead the county. I still believe that to this day; Fred will work to maintain our property values, hold the line on taxes, and approach each issue as a citizen rather than a politician. I wish to congratulate Fred on his victory, as well as the citizens of the county. If you don’t know Fred personally, there is one thing you should know: You just elected the best commissioner you could possibly hope for. Everyone claims to be accessible and responsive to the citizens; with Fred, that is truly what you get.

Although I do not resided in the District 2, I have come to know Fred Auletta beginning with his earlier BOC Chairperson run. I have found him to be impassioned about Henry County and truly dedicated to serving all citizens. The “good guys” won this time!
Although I have already done it on facebook, let me once again offer my congratulations to Fred for a fine win. I hope he has a very successful stint on the county commission. Having said that, I am curious as to how he will maintain property values? They seem to be in a steep slide at the moment so if he can reverse that I would like to know how.
John, If you and the other Republicans were doing your job under the Gold Dome we wouldn’t have as many problems as we do today. Seems like your endorsement doesn’t mean anything. Maybe if you were not introducing bills that forces people to get a license to own a snake you could have done more. Oh well your gone now so it doesn’t matter. I wish you nothing but the best in the future.

John, you don’t always have to be a dick for the sake of being a dick. He can work to maintain property values be ensuring high standards of development, effective governance, and a strong local economy. Identical houses are vastly different prices in Henry County and Clayton County, because places like Clayton do no do those things effectively.
Herman Talmadge had this campaign issue on his website: Protecting and Increasing Our Home Values
Did you ask him the same question you presented here before you endorsed him?
Stephen, your wish for my future is very touching. I appreciate your concern. BTW, Since I am gone now, “your” grammer could use a bit of work.
Joshua, asking a question makes me a “dick”? Interesting. And yes, I did ask that question.
Josh, your support for Fred is commendable as is his victory. With that said, there is no need to show up those who choose to support his opponent. They made a choice, as did you.
Furthermore, anyone has the right to ask a candidate, mush less an elected official, a question regarding public policy. I personally don’t think that makes them a “dick”. Then again, maybe I am just a dick for disagreeing with you. Way to to take the high road and promote a positive discussion.
“John, you don’t always have to be a dick for the sake of being a dick.”
Wow, Joshua, we are all impressed by your mastery of the English language.
Why don’t you put the soap in your mouth next time you are washing someone else’s dog.
Get over it, you won.
Guys, I want you to be able to have a discussion, but this is heading south.
Please be respectful.
John, sorry about my “grammer” I attended the GA public school system.
