Wilson takes on Chambliss

Wilson Smith interviewed Sen. Saxby Chambliss on Thursday for What Is Goin’ On. It was an Interesting interview. Chambliss cited his “bi-partisan record” on issues like the farm bill and the Gang of 20, two things that have driven fiscal conservatives crazy.
Chambliss also continues to mislead about the spending increases we’ve seen under the Bush Administration. He doesn’t exactly say it, but he gives the impression that it was all for defense. It’s a tough sell when defense spending as a percentage of GDP has fallen below the historical average and only risen around 1% since 2001, according to the Heritage Foundation.
What Chambliss won’t talk about is non-defense discretionary spending and how it has skyrocketed under George W. Bush.
Chambliss won’t own up to his record because if he does everything he has tried to pass himself off as during his campaign would be a lie.
