DeLay Indictment

House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R) has been indicted in Texas. DeLay is being charged with conspiracy because his political action committee, Texans for a Republican Majority, took contributions from corporations to use in legislative races, which is a violation of Texas election law.
DeLay issued a statement saying that he will “temporarily step aside” as House Majority Leader. Congressman David Dreier (R-CA) will take over DeLay’s tasks in that position.
DeLay’s spokesman says that the indictment is partisan in it’s origin.
